Signs two-year extension Schoop signed a two-year, $15 million contract extension with the Tigers on Saturday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports. Impact The deal has an opt out after the 2022 season. Schoop was considered a trade candidate leading up to the July 30 deadline, but the Tigers held onto him and will now have him for at least one more season. The 29-year-old, who is slashing .289/.333/.468 with 18 home runs, 19 doubles and 64 RBI this season, is enjoying his best offensive campaign since 2017 with Baltimore. Schoop provides a bit of defensive versatility with his ability to move around the right side of the infield, although he's probably a better fit at first base, where he's played 75 games in 2021, at this point in his career.
