Impact Though he had been expected to start Thursday against southpaw MacKenzie Gore, the right-handed-hitting Iglesias apparently felt ill during Wednesday's 6-2 win and required an IV after cramping up following the game. Iglesias is apparently still feeling under the weather Thursday, so the Mets will let him rest in the series finale while Jeff McNeil steps in at second base.

Impact Though he'll hit the bench Thursday, Iglesias seems to have pushed his way into a near-everyday role in the New York infield. He had started in five of the previous six games, and he turned in another strong performance in Wednesday's 6-2 win, going 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and two runs. Jeff McNeil will cover second base Thursday, but McNeil could end up seeing more time in the corner outfield if the Mets want to continue opening up regular playing time in the infield for Iglesias.

Impact Iglesias had been running cold in July coming into Wednesday, batting .185 (5-for-27) over eight contests. However, he's continued to start on a consistent basis, as he's been in the lineup -- primarily at second base -- in five of the Mets' past six contests. That certainly paid off for the team Wednesday, as Iglesias collected three hits, including a tiebreaking two-run single in the sixth frame. The veteran infielder is batting a robust .338 on the campaign, albeit with just one homer and one steal over 27 games.

Though the right-handed-hitting Iglesias initially looked set to serve as a short-side platoon mate at the keystone for Jeff McNeil, the Mets may be compelled to make regular room for both players in the lineup against right-handed pitching. McNeil will pick up a start in right field Monday and could end up seeing more frequent opportunities at that position so long as Starling Marte (knee) remains on the injured list. Since getting called up from Triple-A Syracuse on May 31, Iglesias has slashed .333/.373/.476 with one home run and one stolen base across 67 plate appearances.

Impact Iglesias latched on with the Padres after opting out of his minor-league pact with the Marlins in late April and now it appears he's on the move again. The 33-year-old shortstop has batted .276/.330/.414 with one home run across 21 games at the Triple-A level this season. It's not clear whether Iglesias might have a major-league contract in the works somewhere or if he's just decided a promotion to San Diego isn't happening.
