Minute Maid Park, Houston, TX
The Astros are playing for their postseason lives. Do they 'have the stomach' for this?Never in any of the past five 162-game seasons have Houston’s playoff prospects felt so tenuous.

James McArthur - Secures third saveMcArthur picked up the save in Sunday's 6-5 victory over the Astros. He allowed one hit and no walks while striking out one over a scoreless inning.
ImpactMcArthur appears to be in a share for the Royals' closer job as he and Taylor Clarke split three saves this weekend in a sweep of the Astros (two for McArthur and one for Clarke). They have both earned preference over Carlos Hernandez, who has earned holds in consecutive games, setting up both Clarke and McArthur. The 27-year-old McArthur has not allowed a run in 13.1 innings since being recalled Sept. 1. He makes an intriguing pick up for saves as the Royals finish the season against the Tigers and Yankees.

Alec Marsh - Earns win in bulk roleMarsh (3-8) picked up the win as the bulk reliever Sunday against the Astros. He allowed four runs on three hits and two walks while striking out six over 5.1 innings.
ImpactMarsh was shaky in this outing as he yielded four runs, but his offense provided enough support to pick up the win. However, the 25-year-old has performed admirably overall as a bulk reliever since moving into that role full-time Sept. 8. In four outings since then, he has gone 3-0 with a 4.50 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 19:7 K:BB over 18 innings. Marsh's next and last bulk outing of the year should occur against the Yankees, assuming the Royals keep the same rotation schedule.

Hunter Brown - Yields six runs in lossBrown (11-13) took the loss Sunday against the Royals, allowing six runs on six hits and one walk over three innings. He struck out four.
ImpactBrown allowed a season-worst four home runs Sunday as it marked the third time in his last four starts allowing six runs or more. He has gone 1-3 with a 9.67 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 21:7 K:BB over 17.2 innings in those four outings. The 25-year-old rookie appears to have worn down over the long season as he sports a 6.67 ERA over 60.2 innings post-All-Star break. Brown looks to right the ship in his last start of the season, currently scheduled to be at Arizona.
SEPTEMBER 25, 2023ROTOWIRE
Nelson Velázquez - Goes deep twiceVelazquez went 2-for-3 with two solo homers in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Astros.
ImpactVelazquez tallied the first Royals run of the game with his 380-foot homer off Hunter Brown in the second inning. He wasn't done for the day, as he returned and cranked a 396-foot solo shot the next inning, again off Brown. Velazquez has been on a torrid power tear lately, hitting five home runs over the past nine games. The former Cub is slashing .239/.313/.632 with 14 homers, 25 runs and 27 RBI over 36 games since joining the Royals.
