Ty Buttrey - Loses spot on 40-man roster Buttrey was designated for assignment by the Angels on Wednesday.

Impact Buttrey was reinstated from the restricted list in early April and has been with Triple-A Salt Lake all season, but the Angels have now removed him from the 40-man roster. The right-hander has a 5.11 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 5:3 K:BB over 12.1 innings this season and could remain at Salt Lake if he passes through waivers unclaimed.

José Suarez - Sent back to Triple-A Suarez was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday.

Impact The left-hander was called up to start Tuesday and took a no-decision after giving up three runs over five innings, and he'll quickly head back to the minors. Suarez should rejoin the starting rotation for Salt Lake, though he could be in the mix to rejoin the Angels for a doubleheader June 18.

Impact The 29-year-old made his MLB debut over four games for the Mariners last year, and he'll now receive a look with the Angels. Thomas has an .887 OPS over 48 games with Triple-A Salt Lake this season, and he'll provide outfield depth for the Halos while Mike Trout manages a groin injury.

Impact Rengifo has been operating as the Angels' primary second baseman over the past few weeks, but he'll step away from the team for a few days in order to spend some time with his family. The 26-year-old also missed time with an unspecified injury in late April, but it's not yet clear how long he'll be sidelined due to his current injury. He's hitting .337 with a homer, 27 runs, 17 RBI and three stolen base over 42 games in Salt Lake this year.
