Davidson looks to get past growing pains with HalosSEATTLE -- It wasn't exactly the best first impression for lefty Tucker Davidson, who made his Angels debut on Sunday against the Mariners....

What could Mariners offense look like with a revitalized Jesse Winker? That was a question to ponder Sunday after Jesse Winker's third-inning grand slam loomed large in the Mariners' 6-3 victory over the Angels.

Jesse Winker - Hits grand slam in winWinker went 1-for-3 with a grand slam and a walk in Sunday's 6-3 win over the Angels.
ImpactWinker's third-inning blast off Angels starter Tucker Davidson gave the Mariners enough offense for the win. Across his last seven games, Winker has gone 6-for-20 (.300) with three homers, seven RBI and six runs scored. He should still see a majority of the playing time in left field, but the return of Mitch Haniger on Saturday and the expected activation of Julio Rodriguez (wrist) from the injured list this coming week could see Winker receive more days off. The 28-year-old outfielder has a .230/.349/.365 slash line with 11 homers, 41 RBI and 36 runs scored through 100 contests.

Paul Sewald - Converts save No. 14Sewald pitched a perfect inning and struck out one to earn the save in Sunday's 6-3 win over the Angels.
ImpactSewald took an extra-inning loss to the Angels on Friday, but he was able to help the Mariners salvage a 2-2 split in this weekend series by closing out the finale. He's allowed just one unearned over his last six innings, picking up two saves and a hold in that span. The right-hander is now 14-for-17 in save chances while adding six holds, a 3-3 record, 2.42 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and 49:11 K:BB through 44.2 innings this year.

Marco Gonzales - Bounces back SundayGonzales (7-11) allowed three runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out seven to earn the win Sunday over the Angels.
ImpactThe seven strikeouts were a season high for Gonzales, who also turned in his fourth quality start in his last seven outings. David Fletcher was the only Angel to find success against him, posting a two-out double and an RBI groundout. Gonzales still has a 3.98 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 72:40 K:BB across 124.1 innings through 22 starts -- given his pitch-to-contact tendencies, his 2.9 BB/9 rate has led to some crooked numbers at times. The southpaw is tentatively projected for a road start versus the Rangers next weekend.

Tucker Davidson - Struggles in team debutDavidson (1-3) took the loss Sunday versus the Mariners. He allowed six runs on six hits and five walks while striking out one in four innings.
ImpactDavidson's biggest mistake was a third-inning grand slam to Jesse Winker. This was Davidson's Angels debut after he was included as part of the return that sent Raisel Iglesias to Atlanta. Through 19.1 innings in five appearances (four starts), Davidson has struggled to a 7.91 ERA, 2.02 WHIP and 11:18 K:BB. He may stick in the Angels' six-man rotation, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him link up with Triple-A Salt Lake if his performance doesn't improve. If he gets another start, it would likely be at home against the Twins next weekend.
