Mitch Haniger - Goes deep in lossHaniger went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk Wednesday in a loss to the Angels.

ImpactHaniger accounted for Seattle's only run with a second-inning solo blast to center field. He'd been struggling coming into the contest, batting a meager .130 through 10 contests in July and an even more meager .098 over his previous 18 games overall. Still. Haniger has consistently been in the Mariners' lineup of late due in part to injuries to Julio Rodriguez (ankle) and Dominic Canzone (thigh).

José Quijada - Hurls scoreless frame in 2024 debutQuijada allowed one walk in a scoreless inning Wednesday versus Seattle.

ImpactQuijada's outing was his first in the big leagues since he underwent Tommy John surgery in May of 2023. The left-hander struggled a bit with his control in throwing just nine of 17 pitches for strikes, but he faced the minimum three batters, as a leadoff walk was wiped out on a double play. Quijada pitched in the sixth inning Wednesday, though he could eventually work his way up to higher-leverage work if he's able to string together a series of effective outings.

Luis Castillo - Tosses six scoreless framesCastillo allowed five hits and issued two walks while striking out seven batters over six scoreless innings in a no-decision against the Angels on Wednesday.

ImpactCastillo induced a modest nine whiffs, but he still managed to tally a healthy seven punchouts. The veteran hurler has tossed exactly six scoreless frames in two of his past three outings, and he's recorded a quality start in four straight appearances. Castillo's strikeout numbers are down this season -- he's on pace to record fewer punchouts than innings pitched for just the second time in his career -- but he's otherwise been reliable, posting a 3.38 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 126:37 K:BB over 130.1 innings.

Carlos Estévez - Notches 20th saveEstevez pitched a perfect inning against the Mariners on Wednesday to earn a save.

ImpactEstevez needed just nine pitches to set the Mariners down in order and preserve a 2-1 victory. The right-hander continued his run of dominance, as he's now held the opponent without an earned run in 19 straight appearances covering 18.1 innings. Over that span, Estevez has gone 13-for-13 in save chances and has posted a minuscule 0.38 WHIP.

Griffin Canning - Rebounds with five solid framesCanning allowed one run on four hits and three walks while striking out six batters over five innings in a no-decision against Seattle on Wednesday.

ImpactCanning experienced right elbow soreness in his previous start July 19, but the issue didn't cause him to miss any turns in the rotation. The right-hander didn't seem to be limited at all Wednesday, as he tossed 94 pitches and completed five frames for the first time since June 29. Canning didn't get any run support while he was in the contest and had to settle for a no-decision, but this was a good outing for him after he had given up 12 earned runs across 12 innings over his previous three starts. He's been a player to avoid in fantasy this season, posting a 5.04 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 79:41 K:BB over 110.2 innings.
