Will Smith - Slugs 25th homerSmith went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Sunday in an 8-5 win over the Reds.
ImpactSmith's solo shot to left field in the second inning accounted for the first run of the game. It was his 25th homer of the campaign, which leads all National League catchers and ranks third among MLB backstops. Smith has complemented the power production with a solid .270/.380/.521 slash line, 72 RBI and three stolen bases.

Blake Treinen - Converts another holdTreinen secured a hold Sunday against Cincinnati, striking out two batters while allowing one hit in two-thirds of an inning.
ImpactThe right-hander relieved Tony Gonsolin in the bottom of the eighth inning with a runner on second base. He allowed a two-out single that resulted in a run but struck out the other two batters he faced to limit the damage. Treinen hasn't allowed an earned run in 12 of his past 13 appearances, notching seven holds and a save over that span. He leads the majors with 31 holds on the season.

Mike Moustakas - Sits against southpawMoustakas will be on the bench Monday against the Pirates.
ImpactThe Reds continue with their plan of strictly platooning Moustakas, as he'll sit against lefty Dillon Peters, just as he's done against every other southpaw the team has faced since he returned from the injured list in early August. He's certainly not making a case for a larger role, as he's hit just .179/.228/.316 since his return even while being protected against same-sided pitching. Eugenio Suarez will take over at third base.

Max Schrock - Sits versus leftySchrock is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Pirates.
ImpactWith lefty Dillon Peters on the hill for Pittsburgh, the Reds will stock up on some extra right-handed bats in the series opener. Along with Schrock, fellow lefty-hitting regular Mike Moustakas will hit the bench.

Tony Gonsolin - Gives up three runs behind KershawGonsolin tossed 2.1 innings out of the bullpen in Sunday's 8-5 win over the Reds, giving up three runs on three hits and two walks while striking out two.
ImpactGonsolin was denied a second start of the week after the Dodgers opted to use him Sunday behind Clayton Kershaw, who was on a limited pitch count in his second outing since returning from the 60-day injured list. While the setup still seemingly put Gonsolin in favorable position to potentially scoop up a win, Kershaw ended up being the pitcher of record after he departed with a 6-1 lead after five innings. Gonsolin should slot back into the Los Angeles rotation when a fifth starter is next needed Saturday in Arizona.
