Extends deal with Tampa Bay Margot and the Rays agreed Tuesday on a two-year, $19 million contract extension, Hector Gomez of Z101Digital.com reports. Impact Earlier this spring, Margot inked a one-year, $5.6 million deal with the Rays to avoid arbitration, so the extension will keep him on the books through the 2024 campaign. Margot was set to reach free agency next winter, but he may have preferred to get some financial security now in the event an injury or poor production in 2022 limited his value on the open market. Over his first two seasons in Tampa Bay, Margot has slashed .258/.317/.375 across 673 plate appearances, with much of his fantasy value coming in his 25 steals on 37 attempts. As a right-handed hitter for the platoon-happy Rays, Margot might not be locked into an everyday role this season, but he should play frequently enough to have value in AL-only leagues and deeper mixed leagues.
