Justin Dunn - Cleared for rehab startDunn (shoulder) is scheduled to make a rehab start with Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
ImpactDunn looked like a potential shutdown candidate when he landed on the 15-day injured list Sept. 15 with right shoulder tightness, but his latest shoulder issue apparently isn't severe as the one that kept him shelved for the first three months of the 2022 campaign. According to Nightengale, Dunn is expected to toss around 50-to-55 pitches Tuesday, with that sort of workload implying that the Reds intend to bring him back as a starter once he's activated from the IL. If all goes well Tuesday, Dunn could be a candidate to take over Chase Anderson's spot in the Cincinnati rotation Sunday in Chicago against the Cubs.

Jake Fraley - Fades into reserve roleFraley is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Pirates.
ImpactThe lefty-hitting Fraley is on the bench against a right-handed starting pitcher (Roansy Contreras) for the third straight game and appears to have moved into a full-time bench role. Stuart Fairchild looks to have taken over as the Reds' new primary center fielder at the expense of Fraley, who has posted a .564 OPS and 30.6 percent strikeout rate over his past nine games.

ImpactThe righty-hitting Fairchild has largely served in a short-side platoon role since his Aug. 23 call-up from Triple-A Louisville, but he'll pick up his third consecutive start against a right-hander (Roansy Contreras) on Monday while the slumping Jake Fraley remains on the bench. Fairchild is slashing .388/.464/.694 with seven extra-base hits in his 22 games following his promotion to the big leagues.

Alejo Lopez - Back in bench roleLopez is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Pirates.
ImpactLopez went 4-for-19 with an RBI and a run while starting in each of the past five games at either designated hitter, left field, second base or third base. He likely won't have a direct path to any one spot in the lineup over the final week and a half over the season, but he could continue to see steady at-bats nonetheless in his super-utility role.

ImpactHe'll be included in the lineup for the fifth straight contest, including his third start in a row at first base while Donovan Solano (eye) remains sidelined. Since returning from the 10-day injured list Sept. 9, Reynolds is slashing .333/.429/.375 with three RBI and one run in 11 games.
