Mitch Haniger - Reaches deal with M'sHaniger and the Mariners agreed Sunday on a one-year, $7.75 million contract to avoid arbitration, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.ImpactHaniger said Sunday that he nearly finalized a deal with the Mariners prior to the deadline in March for arbitration-eligible players to secure contracts for 2022, only to run out of time. The two sides were ultimately able to work out an agreement without having to go to court, locking Haniger into the roster as Opening Day approaches. After missing significant time with injuries in 2019 and 2020, Haniger showed durability in 2021, appearing in 157 games while slashing .253/.318/.485 and establishing new career highs in home runs (39), runs (110) and RBI (100).
