Impact It's a little bit of a surprise that Kirilloff may not play in a major-league spring game until mid-March, but it doesn't sound like the lack of plate appearances will hurt his chances to make the roster. Kirilloff had a second surgery on his right wrist last August to shorten the ulnar bone and clean up scar tissue. He's been taking live batting practice and says there's no pain in his wrist. If fully healthy by the end of training camp, he's likely to earn a spot in the starting lineup at first base and designated hitter.

Jordan Balazovic - Optioned to Triple-A level The Twins optioned Balazovic (jaw) to Triple-A St. Paul on Friday, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.
Impact It's the first cut out of Twins camp, and it comes after Balazovic suffered a broken jaw during an altercation at a Fort Myers bar Feb. 11. The 24-year-old former top prospect struggled to a 7.39 ERA over 70.2 innings at the Triple-A level in 2022, and he had yet to appear in any Grapefruit League games this spring.

Nick Gordon - Suffers high ankle sprain Gordon was diagnosed Friday with a mild-to-moderate left high ankle sprain, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.
Impact Gordon suffered the injury on a play in the infield during Friday afternoon's Grapefruit League game against the Red Sox. X-rays turned up negative for any fractures, but he was in a walking boot and using crutches as he left the Twins' clubhouse in Florida. The 27-year-old will be held out at least through the weekend, per manager Rocco Baldelli, and this could very well turn into a multi-week absence from exhibition action.

Impact Gordon had to be helped off the field by an athletic trainer and appeared to be in a bit of pain. There's no word yet on the specifics or severity of his injury.

Gilberto Celestino - Out 6-8 weeks with thumb injury The Twins announced Thursday that Celestino will be sidelined 6-8 weeks after suffering a ulnar collateral ligament tear in his thumb, TwinsDaily.com reports.
Impact Celestino had likely been pegged for Triple-A St. Paul to start the season but will now begin the year on the injured list. The 24-year-old has sported just a .592 OPS with four homers and four steals in 145 games over the last two seasons with the Twins.

Impact Miranda recently experienced right shoulder soreness in Twins camp, so he'll cancel his plans to play in the upcoming WBC and focus on his rehab. The issue doesn't seem to be a huge concern -- he's taken three Grapefruit League at-bats out of the designated-hitter spot -- but now the 24-year-old can simply focus on being ready to handle third base for Minnesota once he's cleared to throw again. He posted an encouraging .751 OPS with 15 home runs and 66 RBI over his first 125 big-league games in 2022.
