Diego Castillo - Summoned from Triple-A The Twins selected Castillo's contract from Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday. He'll start at third base and bat seventh in the Twins' series finale in San Francisco.

Impact Castillo joined the Twins' 26-man active roster as replacement for infielder Jose Miranda, who was placed on the 10-day injured list with a low back strain. Over his 283 plate appearances with St. Paul this season, Castillo slashed a respectable .269/.375/.399 with five home runs and seven stolen bases while seeing action at all four infield spots as well as right field. He'll likely see most of his starts against left-handed pitchers like the Giants' Blake Snell while he's up with the big club.

Diego Castillo - Promotion pending The Twins are expected to call up Castillo from Triple-A St. Paul, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Impact Minnesota is currently dealing with several injuries in the infield and Castillo is expected to take the 26-man roster spot of the IL-bound Jose Miranda (back). Castillo has just one big-league at-bat in his career and is slashing .269/.375/.399 with five homers and seven stolen bases across 283 games with St. Paul. The 26-year-old should see plenty of work at third base and could mix in at second base or shortstop if needed. The Twins will need to free up a spot on the 40-man roster for Castillo.

Jose Miranda - Heading to IL Miranda (back) will be placed on the injured list, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Impact Miranda was a late scratch Friday due to lower back stiffness and didn't take the field Saturday. Even with the All-Star break coming this week, Minnesota decided that it'd be best to give Miranda extended time off to let the back issue heal. Diego Castillo is expected to be called up in a corresponding move and should share third base duties with Brooks Lee while Miranda is sidelined.

Brooks Lee - Nabs first steal Lee went 0-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Giants.

Impact The steal was Lee's first in the majors. Considering he had just two thefts over 30 minor-league games this season, he shouldn't be expected to make a significant contribution on the basepaths regularly. Lack of speed aside, the 23-year-old is off to a good start in his Twins career, batting .300 with two home runs, nine RBI and five runs scored across his first 10 big-league contests.

Carlos Santana - Delivers go-ahead blast Santana went 2-for-2 with a solo home run and two walks in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Giants.

Impact Santana ended June hot, but this was his first multi-hit effort over 10 games in July. The first baseman is 6-for-32 (.188) with three extra-base hits this month. Despite the slump, he's maintained a decent .247/.328/.431 slash line for the year while adding 13 homers, 41 RBI, 35 runs scored, 17 doubles and two stolen bases across 88 contests.

Impact Duran got the last three outs, completing a stretch of 4.2 innings of one-hit ball from the Twins' bullpen. This was also Duran's eighth consecutive scoreless outing, a span in which he's collected four saves and two wins. The closer has a 2.93 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 29:10 K:BB through 30.2 innings while converting 15 of 16 save chances and adding four holds this season.

Impact This was the first time since June 14 that Woods Richardson failed to complete five frames. He didn't allow too much, but he left with the game tied at 2-2 before the Twins pulled ahead later. The right-hander has gone five starts without allowing more than two runs. For the year, he has a 3.51 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 71:24 K:BB through 82 innings across 16 starts.
