Impact Garver led the hitting show, backed by Corey Seager and Bubba Thompson homers, that produced 14 runs. It was the second time this spring that Texas put up double-digit runs after scoring 25 against the Guardians on Monday. The 31-year-old Garver will be the Rangers' primary catcher in 2022, but he's never played more than 103 games in the majors.

Impact The agreement means Garver won't have to go through the arbitration process with his new team. He'll receive a raise of roughly $1.5 million in his second season of arbitration eligibility after a season in which he hit .256/.358/.517 with 13 homers in just 68 games.

Dealt to Texas Garver was traded from the Twins to the Rangers on Saturday in exchange for Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Ronny Henriquez, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

Impact He will head to a slightly worse lineup, with a negligible change in home parks for a right-handed hitter. With Garver, the expectation should be that he will be a very productive fantasy catcher when he is in the lineup, but durability has been an issue in the past. He has only played in 100 games once (103 in 2018) and was limited to 93 games in 2019, 23 games in the shortened 2020 season and 68 games in 2021.
