Starting in return Garver (back) is starting at catcher and batting ninth in his return from the injured list Tuesday against the Cubs.

Impact Garver was activated from the 10-day injured list earlier Tuesday and now the backstop is officially penciled in for his first big-league action since Aug. 24. He resumes his campaign with a .242/.352/.527 slash line, 13 homers and 29 RBI across 61 games.

Starting rehab assignment Friday Garver (back) is beginning a rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul on Friday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Impact The catcher should require at least a few games of rehab, considering the fact he's been sidelined with his back strain since Aug. 24. The injury came at a bad time for Garver, who had hit .303 with three doubles and a home run in his last 10 games. He figures to take the roster spot of backup catcher Ben Rortvedt once activated.
