Mark Vientos - Sent to Triple-A Vientos was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday.

Impact The 23-year-old appeared in just two of the Mets past six games and will now head back to Triple-A with Pete Alonso (wrist) making his return from the injured list. Vientos played in just 16 games during his month-long stint in the majors and had a .178/.224/.244 slash line in 49 plate appearances. He'll attempt to get back in track with Syracuse, where he had a 1.104 OPS prior to his promotion.

Pete Alonso - Activated off injured list Sunday Alonso (wrist) was reinstated off the 10-day injured list by the Mets on Sunday.

Impact Alonso ended up missing just the minimum 10 days after being placed on the injured list retroactive to June 8 with a bone bruise and sprain in his left wrist. The slugger returns to an .872 OPS with 22 homers and 49 RBI over his first 62 games of the season. Mark Vientos was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse in the corresponding transaction to make room for Alonso on the active roster.

Luis Guillorme - Pops first homer Guillorme went 2-for-4 with a double and a two-run home run in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Cardinals.

Impact Getting the start at shortstop and hitting ninth, Guillorme turned on an Adam Wainwright sinker in the fifth inning and lofted it over the wall in right-center field. It's the first big-league homer in 32 games this season for the utility infielder, and just the fifth of his career, but he has been swinging the bat with a bit of authority over the last week. Since rejoining the Mets' roster June 9, Guillorme's gone 4-for-15 with four RBI and three extra-base hits.

Kodai Senga - Fans eight in Saturday's loss Senga (6-4) took the loss Saturday as the Mets were downed 5-3 by the Cardinals, giving up four runs on five hits and a walk over 6.2 innings. He struck out eight.

Impact The 30-year-old righty got taken deep by Paul Goldschmidt in the second inning and Jordan Walker in the third, but Senga regained his focus and shut St. Louis down for the next three-plus frames, although his offense couldn't take advantage. The Mets are making an effort to give Senga extra rest between starts as he adjusts to an MLB schedule -- he hadn't pitched since June 10 -- but he still continues to alternate strong outings with mediocre ones. Despite that pattern, his overall results have been good. Since the beginning of May, Senga sports a 3.18 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 55:23 K:BB through 45.1 innings.

Impact It was arguably the best performance of the season for the right-hander, who tied his season high in Ks and didn't issue a free pass for the first time in 2023 en route to his third quality start in 14 trips to the mound. Megill's been far from consistent, and since the beginning of May he carries a 5.32 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 37:23 K:BB through 44 innings even after Friday's effort. He'll look to keep building momentum in his next outing, likely to come on the road next week in Houston.
