Promotion expected Jones is likely to be promoted to the majors to replace Brenton Doyle (knee) on Friday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Impact Jones made the big-league roster to start the regular season but was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque in mid-April. He's maintained an impressive 183 wrC+ and .505 wOBA since, so he's earned a second look in the majors. Either he or Randal Grichuk figures to be the primary beneficiary of Doyle's absence.

Impact Jones didn't get a chance to play for the Rockies after being promoted Tuesday. The infielder/outfielder is sent back to the minors to clear space for Noah Davis with Davis starting Sunday's contest against the Mariners.

Impact Jones was one of the last roster cuts this spring and was off to a blazing start at Albuquerque, batting .359/.479/.872 with six home runs and one stolen base. The former Guardian is worth a speculative add in deeper leagues in hopes he lands regular playing time, although it's no guarantee that happens.

Impact Colorado acquired Jones in a deal with the Guardians over the winter, and there had been some thought he might open the season as an everyday player for his new squad. However, the 24-year-old was shaky in his Cactus League action before the demotion, slashing just .186/.250/.233 with a 20:4 K:BB over 48 plate appearances. Jones has a chance to help out the Rockies before 2023 ends, but it'll be Elehuris Montero and Mike Moustakas who will get the majority of at-bats from the hot corner to begin the season.

Impact Jones has yet to get any reps at third base at the major-league level, but that was his primary position in the minors. He's expected to compete with Elehuris Montero for playing time at the hot corner. Jones has a good eye at the plate and lots of raw power, although that pop hasn't manifested into big home run totals in the minors. Coors Field should help out with that though, making Jones an interesting late-round upside play in fantasy if he can find enough playing time between third base and the outfield.
