JJ Bleday - Reaches 20-homer mark Bleday went 2-for-5 with a homer, a double, four RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 9-2 win at Texas.
Impact The Oakland center fielder slugged a 370-foot, three-run homer off Jon Gray in the third inning to stretch the team's lead to 4-1. Bleday later laced an RBI-double in the ninth inning before being driven home on a Shea Langeliers long ball. The 26-year-old has swung a hot bat in the second half, hitting .305 (40-for-131) with nine homers, 11 doubles, 26 runs scored and 22 RBI across 36 games.

Brent Rooker - Two solo shots in win Rooker went 2-for-4 with a pair of solo homers, a walk and an additional run scored in Friday's 9-2 win at Texas.
Impact The Oakland designated hitter opened the game's scoring when he slugged a 416-foot solo home run off Jon Gray in the first inning. Rooker then returned in the seventh to crack another solo homer, this one travelling 397 feet, off reliever Dane Dunning. The one-time All-Star is amidst a career year, as he's now slashing .287/.366/.575 with 33 homers, 90 RBI, 69 runs scored and seven steals in 494 plate appearances.

JP Sears - Cruises to 11th win Sears (11-9) earned the win in Friday's 9-2 victory over Texas, allowing one run on five hits and two walks over seven innings. He struck out four.
Impact The Oakland southpaw picked up his fifth win of the second half with this 97-pitch performance while earning his 11th quality start of the season. The only blemish on Sears' evening was a 406-foot solo homer allowed to Nathaniel Lowe in the second inning. The 28-year-old has been a solid contributor since the All-Star break, pitching to a 3.53 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 41:8 K:BB across 51 innings. Sears is scheduled to make his next start against the Mariners at home.

Impact Shea Langeliers got a rare day off Thursday, affording McCann his first start since Aug. 21. The rookie backstop managed to knock through his first hit since July 28, but he struck out in three of his other four plate appearances. McCann now sits on a .254/.338/.390 slash line across 133 plate appearances this season and is likely to continue seeing sporadic opportunity down the stretch.

Grant Holman - Takes first loss Thursday Holman (0-1) took the loss and was charged with a blown save against the Reds on Thursday, allowing three runs on three hits, two walks and a wild pitch without retiring a batter.
Impact Holman's outing was as abysmal as his final line implies, with the young right-hander suffering his worst outing of the season by far. After loading the bases to open the final frame, Holman surrendered back-to-back run-scoring singles to Tyler Stephenson and TJ Friedl, the latter sealing a three-run rally for the Reds. Prior to Thursday, Holman had allowed just a single earned run across four innings over his first five big-league appearances following his Aug. 17 promotion from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Impact Butler hit a two-run blast in the second inning and added solo shots in the fourth and ninth frames, but his power display was overshadowed by a ninth-inning disaster from Grant Holman. This was Butler's second three-homer game of the season, and he's lifted six long balls while going 13-for-32 (.406) during an eight-game hitting streak. The outfielder is up to a .255/.313/.503 slash line with 19 homers, 51 RBI, 49 runs scored and 12 stolen bases over 100 contests this season. While the Athletics' offense isn't particularly impressive, Butler has done well in the leadoff role versus right-handed pitchers.

J.T. Ginn - Yields four runs Ginn allowed four runs on four hits and a walk while striking out four over five innings in a no-decision versus the Reds on Thursday.
Impact Given that his first major-league start came in hitter-friendly Great American Ball Park, this was an acceptable performance for Ginn. He yielded a pair of home runs, which were solo shots by Will Benson and Tyler Stephenson, and the Reds were able to scrape together another pair of runs in the fifth. Ginn allowed one run over 3.2 innings in his first two appearances out of the bullpen, but it looks like he has a chance to be a part of the Athletics' rotation over the final month of the season. He's tentatively projected to make his next appearance at home versus light-hitting Seattle.
