Records save Wednesday Fairbanks notched the save Wednesday against the Orioles after giving up one run on two hits and a walk across one inning.

Impact Fairbanks entered the game in the bottom of the ninth with the Rays holding a three-run cushion, and while he found himself with runners on the corners and two outs, he retired Maikel Franco on a groundout to end the game. This was Fairbanks' first save of the campaign, and he's yet to give up more than one run in any of the seven appearances he's made so far.

Impact Fairbanks entered with the game tied at 2-2 in the top of the ninth inning, and he did his job well. Brett Phillips then hit a walkoff single for Tampa Bay in the bottom of the ninth. Fairbanks has a 1.59 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 7:3 K:BB across 5.2 innings this season. He's recorded four holds in six outings. The right-hander is expected to see high-leverage work in the late innings.

The right-hander should continue seeing steady work in the later innings now that he's apparently back to full health, and given his high-90s fastball, some save opportunities could certainly be in play as well.
