Impact Fairbanks has been out for two weeks with a strained right rotator cuff. He was initially expected to be completely shut down for two or three weeks, but he's evidently ahead of that schedule. The Rays still haven't provided a clear timeline for his return, however.

Impact The right-hander surrendered a run over 1.1 innings during his last appearance Tuesday at Boston, and he'll now be sidelined for the near future. According to Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network, Fairbanks will be shut down from throwing for 2-to-3 weeks, so he'll likely be unavailable until at least early May. Diego Castillo is 2-for-3 in save chances this season and should continue to operate as the primary closer with Fairbanks and Nick Anderson (elbow) sidelined.
