Impact Dobnak had pitched exclusively out of the bullpen before Friday, but he was recalled from the minors to start this one and didn't disappoint as he delivered his first quality start. Dobnak still owns a 5.75 ERA, but he seems to be trending in the right direction following this impressive performance. He's scheduled to make his next start next week at home against the Orioles.

Impact Dobnak signed a five-year extension prior to the start of the season but failed to make the Opening Day rotation. He spent the early part of the season in the bullpen before heading to the minors to build up his pitch count. He owns a 8.16 ERA in 14.1 innings this season but has a career 3.93 ERA in 89.1 total innings at the highest level. His 57.1 percent career groundball rate and 5.5 percent walk rate are both quite good, but a 16.0 percent strikeout rate caps his upside.

Impact Despite inking a five-year extension with Minnesota in spring training, Dobnak didn't break camp as a member of the rotation and has struggled in a long-relief role, giving up 14 runs (13 earned) on 18 hits and three walks over 14.1 innings. The Twins will let Dobnak settle into a regular pitching schedule and get stretched out during his time in the minors, positioning him to be first in line for a call-up if Minnesota should require an extra arm in the rotation. Even if all five of Minnesota's starters stay healthy, Dobnak could still end up getting a look in the big-league rotation if Matt Shoemaker (7.83 ERA through five starts) can't right the ship.

Impact Dobnak entered the contest in the seventh inning with a 13-1 lead, but he ended up collecting the save after allowing a handful of runs on two homers in the bottom of the ninth.
