Impact Feltner is expected to start Monday's game at home against the Marlins after missing nearly three weeks with a right shoulder strain. He threw only 49 pitches in the outing, so Feltner's workload will be limited Monday.

Impact Feltner has missed most of August with a right shoulder strain but looks to be nearing a return. He got his pitch count up to just 49 in Wednesday's outing, so it's possible the Rockies will want him to make one more before re-inserting the right-hander into their rotation.

Impact Placed on the 15-day injured list Aug. 8 with a right shoulder strain, Feltner appears to have a chance at returning from the shelf in the minimum length of time, or close to it. He said Friday that he's already resumed high-intensity throwing off flat ground, and advancing to mound work Saturday would represent another major step forward. The Rockies should shed light on the next steps for Feltner once he completes the side session.

Returns clean MRI An MRI on Feltner's throwing shoulder came back clean Friday, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports.

Impact The right-hander was placed on the IL on Thursday with a strained right shoulder and Friday's MRI confirmed there is no structural damage. There's optimism that Feltner could return after the minimum 15 days, meaning the 27-year-old could rejoin the rotation as soon as Aug. 23. In the meantime, Dakota Hudson and Tanner Gordon will hold down the back end of the Rockies' rotation.

Placed on injured list The Rockies placed Feltner on the 15-day injured list Thursday with a right shoulder strain.

Impact Feltner was pulled from his start Wednesday after just one inning due to shoulder and lat issues, and manager Bud Black said immediately after the game that it was likely the 27-year-old would need to spend time on the IL. With Feltner sidelined until at least Aug. 23 and German Marquez (elbow) set to miss the rest of the season, the Rockies will need to promote someone from Triple-A to fill the fifth spot in their rotation. Issues five walks in defeat Feltner (1-9) took the loss against the Mets on Saturday, allowing four runs (three earned) on two hits and five walks while striking out seven batters over 3.2 innings.

Impact Feltner had trouble finding the striking zone, as the five walks were two more than his previous season high. Three of the free passes came in the second frame, which was when the Mets scored all four of their runs against him. Feltner did at least manage to register seven punchouts, but he couldn't avoid his ninth loss of the campaign. Among NL pitchers, only teammate Dakota Hudson has lost more games, and Feltner has been mostly ineffective with a 5.36 ERA and 1.45 WHIP across 102.1 innings.
