Impact Feltner has been out of action since being struck on the head by a baseball in mid-May, but he resumed throwing earlier this month, and he is scheduled to face hitters Saturday "without a protective screen." It's unclear how close he is to embarking on a rehab assignment, but that might not be too far in the future if things continue going as planned.

Cleared to throw Feltner (head) will throw a bullpen session Saturday, MLB.com reports.

Impact Feltner was cleared to begin throwing again in late July after recovering from a fractured skull and subsequent serious concussion symptoms. He is set to throw two bullpen sessions per week for a few weeks and then progress to a rehab assignment. That won't leave him much time to return during the regular season, though manager Bud Black told the media that both the team and Feltner believe it's important for him to get back on the mound prior to the winter to clear any mental hurdles that may be the result of his injury.

Impact Feltner walked the first two batters he faced and ultimately surrendered three first-inning runs. He struggled with his command all game long and was pulled with one out in the fourth after plunking Brandon Nimmo and walking Francisco Lindor to load the bases. Feltner struggled to start the season, allowing 13 runs in 13.1 innings with a 15:11 K:BB over his first three outings, but he had been sharp since, surrendering just two earned runs in 17 innings with a 15:4 K:BB across his past three appearances. He'll look to get back on track in his next start, which is tentatively scheduled for a three-game weekend set versus Philadelphia.
