Impact Tatis is approaching the two-month mark in his absence due to a right femoral stress reaction, though he's yet to be moved to the 60-day IL. Padres manager Mike Shildt indicated Friday that Tatis is slated to undergo an MRI soon, presumably to assess his progress in the healing of the stress reaction. Shildt also indicated optimism about the outfielder's recovery and outlook, saying, "He's definitely getting there. Just still wanting some healing to take place before he ramps up. And once he ramps up, he'll be getting ready pretty quickly, I would imagine." While it appears that Tatis remains on track to return this season, he may not rejoin the Padres until sometime in September.

Impact Kim ended a 40-game homer drought, lifting his first long ball since June 22 when he went deep in the second inning. The shortstop hit .246 and slugged a paltry .292 during his power drought. He's slashing .229/.328/.365 with 11 homers, 47 RBI, 60 runs scored and 22 stolen bases over 119 contests, as his drop in production this year has yet to cost him a starting role at shortstop.

Impact The long ball was Bogaerts' first since July 28. Over the 14 games in between homers, he went 14-for-56 (.250) with two doubles, five RBI and seven runs scored. The infielder is up to six homers, six stolen bases, 25 RBI, 38 runs scored, 11 doubles and a triple while slashing .267/.308/.373 over 73 contests this season.

Hit hard in Colorado Waldron (7-10) allowed seven runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out six over 5.2 innings to take the loss Friday versus the Rockies.

Impact To his credit, Waldron mostly spared the Padres' bullpen after laboring through a four-run first inning that saw him throw 28 of his 102 pitches in the start. This was the third time in four outings he's given up at least five runs, and he's yielded at least one home run in nine of his last 11 starts after surrendering just six long balls over his first 14 appearances. Waldron has a 4.29 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 127:39 K:BB through 138.1 innings over 25 starts this season. His next outing is projected to be at home versus the Twins.
