Out of lineup against lefty again Peralta is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals.
Impact The lefty-hitting Peralta will take a seat for the third game in a row, with the Padres having faced left-handed starting pitchers in each of those contests. The Padres should still have a regular spot in the lineup for Peralta against right-handed pitching, and Fernando Tatis' (quadricep) recent move to the injured list likely gives Peralta a longer leash. Peralta has gotten off to a slow start since joining the Padres' active roster May 22, slashing .200/.302/.236 with no home runs over 63 plate appearances.

Picking up fifth straight start Solano will start at first base and bat second in Wednesday's game against the Nationals.
Impact Solano will crack the starting nine for the fifth game in a row. The Padres are facing a left-hander (DJ Herz) for a third straight game, but San Diego could have room for both Solano and the lefty-hitting David Peralta in the regular lineup against right-handed pitching after Fernando Tatis' (quadricep) move to the injured list Monday opened up a spot. Since getting a call-up from Triple-A El Paso in early May, Solano is slashing .284/.354/.405 with three home runs and 15 RBI over 130 plate appearances.

Impact It's the first time he's done any on-field hitting since suffering a fracture in his left shoulder in late May. The Padres have not divulged a potential timetable for Bogaerts' return to action, but his recovery appears to be going well. A timeline for the veteran infielder could come into focus in the coming weeks.

Opens scoring with homer Machado went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 9-7 win over the Nationals.
Impact Machado has gone 14-for-38 (.368) over his last 10 contests, adding two homers and eight RBI in that span. The third baseman opened the scoring when he took MacKenzie Gore deep in the first inning Tuesday. Machado is still playing catch-up after a slow start to the campaign, but he's up to a .260/.314/.389 slash line with eight homers, 40 RBI, 34 runs scored and five stolen bases through 76 contests. His .703 OPS is the highest it's been since May 5.

Impact Profar gave the Padres the extra cushion they ultimately needed when he slugged a grand slam in the sixth inning. The Nationals attempted a comeback but fell short. After a brief absence with a knee injury over the weekend, Profar has resumed his hot hitting -- he's 10-for-36 (.278) with nine RBI during his nine-game hitting streak. For the season, the outfielder is at a stellar .317/.410/.488 slash line with 11 homers, 54 RBI, 45 runs scored and four stolen bases over 82 contests.

Joins 20-save club Suarez allowed an unearned run on one hit and struck out one over one inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 9-7 win over the Nationals.
Impact Suarez has converted his last three save chances after a blown save June 18 versus the Phillies. He's now at 20 saves on the year, and he's the fifth pitcher in the majors to reach that milestone in 2024. Of those top-tier closers, Suarez's 1.09 ERA is second only to Cleveland's Emmanuel Clase (0.70). Suarez has also maintained a 0.79 WHIP and 30:6 K:BB over 33 innings this season.

Earns first career win Mazur (1-2) allowed four runs on six hits and a walk while failing to record a strikeout over five innings, but he earned the win Tuesday over the Nationals.
Impact Washington did all of its damage in the third inning, which was punctuated by a two-run home run by Jesse Winker. Mazur was able to rebound over two more frames, and the Padres' offense pulled ahead for good in the fifth. The right-hander's first major-league win wasn't pretty, but that's been typical for the 23-year-old as he tries to find his footing with the Padres. He's at a 7.25 ERA, 1.84 WHIP and 11:17 K:BB over 22.1 innings through five starts. He'll likely head back to Triple-A El Paso once Yu Darvish (groin/elbow) is cleared to return, which could happen next week but is far from a guarantee.
