Impact Cruz is only a week removed from suffering a right hamstring strain and could be ready to return from the 10-day injured list when first eligible this weekend. The veteran slugger has posted a rough .651 OPS with only three home runs through 36 games (111 plate appearances) this season with the Padres and might lose some DH looks to the recently-acquired Gary Sanchez.

Impact Bogaerts will get at least one more game off as he deals with the soreness in his left wrist that has kept him out since Sunday. The shortstop is hopeful he can avoid a stint on the injured list, but if he can't return by Friday the Padres may need to place the infielder on the shelf so they're not playing a man short. Ha-Seong Kim is playing shortstop with Jake Cronenworth at second base for Wednesday's finale against the Mariners.

Impact Musgrove had a solid outing, but the Mariners were able to work some long counts against him. The right-hander needed 102 pitches (68 strikes) to complete five innings. Impact Rosario suffered a broken ankle while doing offseason sprinting drills and underwent surgery before the start of spring training, but he has been cleared again for live games and could be a call-up consideration for the Padres within the next few weeks. The young infielder registered an impressive .876 OPS with 22 home runs and 21 stolen bases in 124 games last year at the Triple-A level.

Seth Lugo - Hopes to avoid rehab stint Lugo (calf) will face live hitters soon and hopes to return to the Padres without needing a minor-league rehab assignment, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Impact Lugo threw a 50-pitch bullpen session Friday and completed running drills Saturday before another scheduled bullpen Monday, so he appears to be well on his way to a return from the calf strain that led to his placement on the 15-day IL in mid-May. Though the right-hander hopes to rejoin the big club without a rehab stint, it's uncertain whether the organization will follow that plan given that Lugo has already spent more than the minimum time on the injured list. Whenever he does return, Lugo should have a spot in the rotation waiting for him, as Ryan Weathers has been mostly unimpressive as his fill-in.
