Fernando Tatis Jr. - Hits another homer Tatis went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Saturday's 3-2 loss against the Yankees.
Impact For the second straight game Tatis went yard at Yankee Stadium, this time launching a solo off Luis Severino in the fourth. The long ball increased his season total to nine, four of which have come in Tatis' last eight appearances. However, Tatis has struggled to make an impact outside of the home runs, having recorded just two hits in his last nine games that weren't homers. Through 32 games, Tatis is slashing .254/.297/.486 while only striking out at an 18.9 percent clip.

Michael Wacha - Posts fifth straight quality start Wacha did not factor into the decision Saturday, allowing two runs on five hits over 7 innings against the Yankees. He struck out four.
Impact Wacha continued his domination in May, finishing the month with a 3-0 record to go along with a 0.84 ERA and 7.3 K/9 through five starts (32.0 innings), all of which were quality starts. However, his streak of starts without allowing a home run came to an end at four, as Wacha gave up a solo homer to DJ Lemahieu in the seventh. Though Wacha is generally known for his run prevention, he has flashed elite upside in the strikeout department, collecting double-digit K's twice this season. He will have another opportunity to put up gaudy punchout numbers in his next projected start, which comes against the Cubs who strike out the fifth most in MLB.

Impact Machado was able to hit on the field Friday for the first time since suffering a small fracture in his left hand May 15, but the veteran slugger doesn't appear quite ready for a return. He's already missed the first two contests of the interleague series in New York, and Melvin's comments cast substantial doubt about Machado's availability Sunday. The fact that Bogaerts has played through the issue to this point seemingly gives him a good chance at avoiding the injured list, but the Padres have yet to say whether they expect him to miss a handful of games or just one.
