Ryan Weathers - Changes made to delivery Weathers has revamped his delivery for the upcoming season, Bob Scanlan of Bally Sports San Diego reports.
Impact Weathers now has added an overhead delivery to his mechanics, and Scanlan reports that the left-hander has done "lots of work" in the offseason. The left-hander showed flashes of brilliance in the first-half of 2021, but he has struggled since, making just one appearance for the Padres in 2022 and registering a 6.73 ERA over 123 innings for Triple-A El Paso. There's more risk than reward in Weathers' profile at this stage, but keep in mind he's only 23 years old, and there's still the potential for long-term success.

Impact The 24-year-old looks to be back to full health following a pair of surgeries this past fall on his left wrist and left shoulder, but he'll still be sidelined for the Padres' first 20 games of the regular season while he serves the remainder of the 80-game suspension for performance-enhancing drugs that he was handed last summer. Tatis, who is eligible to debut April 20, looks as though he'll be earmarked for an everyday role in right field, after the Padres signed shortstop Xander Bogaerts this offseason. Meanwhile, manager Bob Melvin has also noted during the spring that he anticipates Juan Soto and Ha-Seong Kim settling into regular spots in left field and second base, respectively.

Impact Pomeranz was forced to miss all of 2022 as he recovered from a flexor tendon surgery he received in 2021. Padres manager Bob Melvin said Pomeranz is "still a little behind everybody else," but is hoping the 34-year-old lefty is up to speed by the end of spring training. Between 2020-21, Pomeranz put up a 1.62 ERA and 1.08 WHIP alongside a 59:20 K:BB through 44.1 innings.
