Fernando Tatis Jr. - Targeting mid-August return Manager Bob Melvin said Sunday that he believes Tatis (wrist) is on track for a "mid-August-ish" return, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
Impact Tatis began a rehab assignment at Double-A San Antonio on Saturday and went 0-for-2 with two walks and a strikeout during his first game with the minor-league club. He'll presumably appear in several more rehab games before the organization's medical staff deems him ready to make his season debut.

Impact Mazara will sit for the fifth game in a row, and his time as a regular player for San Diego appears to be over after the Padres recently acquired Juan Soto to take over as their everyday right fielder. Since Mazara doesn't bring much defensive value to the table and isn't a platoon option as a left-handed hitter, it wouldn't be surprising if he was ultimately moved off the active roster. Impact Suarez missed two months due to knee surgery, and this was his first appearance for San Diego following a minor-league rehab stint that kicked off in late July. The right-hander showed some rust, allowing a run on a pair of doubles. The Padres were down by four when Suarez entered the game in the eighth inning, so this was an opportunity for the reliever to get in some work in a low-leverage situation. He'll likely function in more of a setup role once he gets ramped back up.
