Impact Wade got Saturday's game started with a bang, leading off the first inning with a solo home run off Yonny Chirinos. Though the long ball was his third of August, Wade has struggled mightily as of late, going hitless in six straight games (16 at-bats) leading up to Saturday's tilt. On the year, Wade is slashing .259/.385/.414 across 107 games.

Logan Webb - Struggles in Atlanta Webb did not factor into the decision Saturday, allowing four runs on nine hits over six innings against Atlanta. He struck out five.

Impact After nearly tossing a complete-game shutout in his last start, Webb came back to earth against Atlanta, tying his season high in hits allowed across six frames. Webb also surrendered his first home run since July 28, as Ronald Acuna tagged him for a solo shot in the fifth. The outing ended what was an impressive stretch of play for Webb, who boasted a 2.20 ERA and a 21:2 K:BB over his previous five starts (28.2 innings). Webb will have an opportunity to get revenge in his next start when Atlanta comes to Oracle Park.

Brandon Crawford - Not starting Saturday Crawford isn't in the Giants' lineup for Saturday's game against Atlanta, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Impact It's been a tough season for Crawford so far, highlighted by the fact that he is just 1-for-28 since Aug. 5. Johan Camargo will fill in Saturday and bat eighth as the Giants search for more production at shortstop.

Ross Stripling - Lands on injured list The Giants placed Stripling on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a mid-back strain, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Impact Stripling had his back evaluated before Friday's game after experiencing some soreness, and the results were apparently severe enough to warrant a trip to the IL. Stripling will be held out forat least the next two weeks while Sean Hjelle comes up from Triple-A Sacramento to fill Stripling's spot on the roster.

Casey Schmitt - Back with SF The Giants recalled Schmitt from Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Impact Schmitt will offer the Giants extra depth in the infield while Ross Stripling (back) and Ryan Walker (paternity) are both out. The 24-year-old was optioned to Triple-A on Aug. 6 and has since slashed .311/.354/.533 with six RBI over 48 plate appearances.

Sean Hjelle - Recalled from Triple-A The Giants recalled Hjelle from Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Impact With Ross Stripling (back) headed for the injured list, Hjelle will come up from the minors to add extra depth to San Francisco's pitching staff. The 26-year-old righty has struggled this season in both the majors and minors, and he likely will be limited to low-leverage situations while with the Giants.

Alex Cobb - Second-half struggles continue Cobb (6-5) took the loss Friday as the Giants fell 4-0 to Atlanta, giving up four runs on eight hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out three.

Impact The right-hander did keep the ball in the park, a noteworthy feat after he served up six homers in his prior three starts, but this was still another disappointing result for Cobb. He's winless in seven outings since the All-Star break, going 0-3 with a 5.73 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 27:13 K:BB through 37.2 innings, and he hasn't struck out more than four batters in any of his four trips to the mound in August. Cobb will try to turn things around in his next start, likely to come next week in Philadelphia.
