Alex Cobb - Activated for Friday return San Francisco activated Cobb (oblique) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Friday against the Mets, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.
Impact Cobb was excellent in his lone minor-league rehab outing last Saturday with Single-A San Jose, racking up nine strikeouts across 3.2 innings of one-run ball. Following a 15-day absence to heal a mild oblique strain, he returns Friday to a sharp 3.09 season ERA and 76:21 K:BB through 78.2 major-league innings.

David Villar - Optioned to Triple-A Villar was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Impact Villar opened the 2023 campaign as a regular fixture in the Giants' lineup, but he's now been demoted to the minors for the second time this season. Alex Cobb (oblique) was activated from the injured list in a corresponding roster move and will start Friday against the Mets.

Impact Conforto is dealing with a fascia strain of his left hamstring and is missing a second straight start Friday. While the injury is considered mild, it sounds as if it's serious enough to hold him out all weekend. It's a bummer for Conforto personally since this week be his first time back in New York to play against his former team, but at least it appears the outfielder will avoid the injured list for now.

Impact Winn pitched well in his first start as a big-leaguer, needing just 67 pitches to get through six frames. He kept the Blue Jays off the scoreboard through 5.2 innings before Vladimir Guerrero tagged him for a two-run, two-out homer in the sixth to break a scoreless tie. A lack of run support resulted in Winn taking the loss, but he certainly pitched well enough to earn another start. Should he be given that opportunity, he's tentatively lined up to face the Mariners at home his next time out.
