Ross Stripling - Reason for short start provided Stripling exited his start Wednesday versus the Phillies in the fourth inning due to low-back tightness, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Impact Given Stripling's worked out of the bullpen for parts of the season, seeing him fail to complete four innings wouldn't have been out of the ordinary. It's unclear at this time if he'll be able to make his next start on the road versus Minnesota next week. If Stripling is unavailable, Sean Manaea would likely temporarily rejoin the rotation in his place.

John Brebbia - Snags second win Brebbia (2-0) allowed a hit and struck out one in a scoreless inning to earn the win Wednesday over the Phillies.

Impact Brebbia pitched the top of the eighth inning, and the Giants rallied ahead in their half of the frame. The right-hander has allowed a run on four hits and three walks with nine strikeouts through five innings in May. He has a 4.67 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, five holds and 27:7 K:BB through 17.1 innings over 19 appearances, including two turns as an opener, this season.

Impact With news of Sean Manaea moving to a bullpen role, it appears Stripling has at least temporarily grabbed control of the No. 5 spot in the rotation. He didn't do much to solidify it with this outing, and he's now allowed multiple runs in all but one of his nine appearances (five starts) this season. Impact Doval only allowed one hit, but a walk and a hit batter loaded the bases with two outs. He struck out Trae Turner with a slider to finish the game and collect his 11th save. The Giants' closer has been lights out in May, converting all eight save opportunities and striking out 13 across 8.2 innings.

Sean Manaea - Moves to 'pen The Giants moved Manaea to the bullpen prior to Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Phillies, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Impact Manaea was spotted warming up while the Giants were nursing a 4-2 lead in the eighth inning, but he ultimately went unused. At least in the short term, the Giants are likely to limit Manaea's usage to lower-leverage spots or lefty-on-lefty matchups after he's stumbled to a 7.96 ERA and 1.77 WHIP across 26 innings in his first eight outings (six starts) since signing a two-year, $25 million deal during the offseason. Ross Stripling will stick in the rotation over Manaea now that the Giants have five healthy starters again following Alex Wood's recent return from the injured list.

Impact Matos will likely make his Triple-A debut Wednesday. The outfield prospect showed a great eye at the plate in Double-A, posting a 12.8 percent walk rate and a 9.0 percent strikeout rate over 31 contests.
