Impact Kelley had a rough go in big-league camp, allowing four runs on one hit and two walks while striking out one over 2.1 innings of work. He'll now set his sights on preparing for the minor-league season and should end up reporting to Triple-A Tacoma. Kelley posted a 5.23 ERA and 1.52 WHIP with a 28:11 K:BB across 32.2 frames a season ago at Triple-A Durham.

Impact Brash will take an incremental step forward in his recovery from right elbow inflammation, as he had been playing catch out to 60 feet a few days earlier. The right-hander still looks like he might be a week or more away from throwing off a mound, and since he'll need additional time beyond that to face hitters in live batting practice and eventually Cactus League or minor-league rehab games, Brash appears set to begin the season on the 15-day injured list.

Jackson Kowar - Goes on 60-day IL with UCL tear The Mariners placed Kowar on the 60-day injured list Sunday after he was recently diagnosed with a torn UCL in his right elbow.
Impact After experiencing arm soreness early last week, Kowar was sent in for tests Friday, at which point the UCL damage was detected. The Mariners haven't officially commented on Kowar's next steps, but he'll most likely undergo Tommy John surgery or an internal brace surgery, which would keep him sidelined throughout the 2025 season. Kowar , whom Seattle acquired from Atlanta in December, was expected to handle a low-leverage role out of the Mariners bullpen.

Miller could break camp as a multi-inning relief option if he continues impressing, and Servais notes the right-hander compares favorably in certainly ways to a recent effective Mariners late-inning option. "I really liked what I saw out of Miller." Servais said. "He has a lot of release point characteristics, pitch characteristics that Paul Sewald had as far as how he does it."

Impact Chavis signed with the Mariners in January as a non-roster invitee, but he will end up missing the cut after going 2-for-18 across eight games with two RBI and eight strikeouts. Chavis owns a .650 OPS since 2021 and will head to the minors looking to fight his way back onto the major-league bench.

J.P. Crawford - Still looking for first spring hit Crawford, who drew two walks and scored a run in his two plate appearances during Thursday's Cactus League win over the Angels, is now 0-for-9 over his first six exhibitions.
Impact The veteran has three base on balls overall, but that's been the extent of his offensive production. Crawford's early struggles aside, he's once again being counted on to hold down the fort on a near everyday basis at shortstop after slugging a career-high 19 home runs and driving in a career-best 65 RBI a season ago. The power surge helped Crawford produce a career-high .818 OPS as well, although there will be some doubt as to his ability to replicate those numbers after previously having failed to top nine homers in any season.
