Luis Castillo - Stumbles against Rays Castillo allowed six runs (five earned) on eight hits over six innings in Sunday's win over Tampa Bay. He struck out six and did not factor in the decision.

Impact Castillo eventually settled in to toss three scoreless frames after yielding six runs in the first three innings Sunday. He fired 70 of 95 pitches for strikes, including 19 whiffs, his highest total since June 9. The five earned runs charged to him tied his season high; he posted a 2.32 ERA in seven starts between Sunday's start and May 16 when he was tagged with five earned runs against Boston. For the season, Castillo is sporting a 3.14 ERA and an impressive 114:28 K:BB through 17 starts. His next start is projected to be in Houston.

Impact Miller would line up to face the Giants on Wednesday for his final pre-All-Star-break start, and despite the rookie's initial optimism after exiting the game Friday, he could be looking at a shutdown that extends through the Midsummer Classic. Servais explained prior to Saturday's game that Miller's finger was still very sore, and that although the right-hander was receiving treatment designed to get his nail down, a lot would be determined by whether he was dealing with pockets of blood below the surface. Given Miller's importance to Seattle's injury-hampered rotation, the team may well err on the side of caution and take full advantage of the extended layoff afforded by the upcoming pause in play to try and get him back to full health.

The 26-year-old backstop encouragingly carries only a 14.6 percent strikeout rate over that span as well, a welcome improvement over the 26.5 percent figure he entered the stretch with.

Impact Both the Mariners as a whole and Munoz in particular saw their nights take sudden ugly turns after encouraging starts. The normally reliable right-hander cruised through his first frame upon entering in the seventh, preserving a 4-4 tie with a 1-2-3 inning. However, Munoz would go on to play an integral role in Tampa Bay's eight-run eighth, failing to retire any of the four batters he faced and directly surrendering two runs and being charged with two more when runners he'd left on base upon exiting ended up crossing the plate. Prior to Friday, Munoz hadn't given up a run since Sept. 29, his penultimate appearance of 2022. Despite the hiccup, the flamethrowing 24-year-old should continue to enjoy plenty of high-leverage opportunities given his track record.

Impact Kelenic came home on J.P. Crawford's second-inning single, and he added his 11th steal of the season after reaching on a fielder's choice in the sixth. Despite the somewhat eventful night Friday, Kelenic's offensive fade following a hot start continues -- he finished June with an abysmal .173 average and .588 OPS while striking out in 37.4 percent of his 91 plate appearances and recording only five extra-base hits in that span. Nevertheless, his starting left field spot doesn't appear to be in any imminent danger, considering veteran AJ Pollock has been a shadow of himself at the plate this season with a .155/.215/.291 slash line.
