Brennan Bernardino - Dropped from 40-man roster Bernardino was designated for assignment by the Mariners on Wednesday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Impact Bernardino has struggled in his two appearances with Triple-A Tacoma this season, surrendering eight runs over six innings. With the Mariners selecting the contract of Darren McCaughan on Wednesday, Bernardino was the odd guy out on the 40-man roster. He will now either remain with Tacoma, get claimed by another team or be released outright, the first of which is most likely.

José Rodríguez - Sent down to Tacoma The Mariners optioned Rodriguez to Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday.

Impact Rodriguez spent just a day with the Mariners after having his contract selected from Tacoma on Tuesday. The right-hander allowed three runs over the final three innings of a blowout loss to the Cubs. Darren McCaughan has been added to the 40-man roster and recalled from the Rainiers in a corresponding move.

AJ Pollock - On bench for second straight Pollock is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.

Impact Aside from a two-home run, five-RBI performance against the Angels on April 4, Pollock is 1-for-11 in the other five games he's appeared in this season. The veteran infielder has gone just 1-for-13 (.077) with a .231 OPS to open the season. Cooper Hummel will hit eighth as the DH for Wednesday's tilt against Marcus Stroman and the Cubs.

Jose Rodriguez threw three innings and likely won't be available for the next couple of games, so it seems likely he'll be the arm moved down to Tacoma in the corresponding transaction.

Kaden Polcovich - Recovering from hamate surgery Polcovich is on the 7-day injured list with Double-A Arkansas after undergoing surgery on a broken hamate, Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com reports.

Impact This procedure isn't a season ender, so look for Polcovich to get into action for the Travelers sometime this summer. The switch hitter has a .218/.322/.347 slash line with 14 home runs and 22 steals in 154 games at Double-A, dating back to 2021.

Impact Marlowe has not been able to play this season while recovering from a right oblique strain suffered early in the Cactus League. The 25-year-old hit 23 homers while swiping 42 bases across 1033 games between Triple-A Tacoma and Double-A Arkansas in 2022. Marlowe stands a good chance of making his MLB debut for the Mariners at some point before the 2023 season concludes.
