Eugenio Suárez - Modest start to spring Suarez is hitting .214 (3-for-14) with a double, a solo home run, a walk, a stolen base and four runs across six Cactus League games thus far.

Impact Suarez last appeared in Cactus League action Saturday, as he's currently toiling for Team Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic. The slugger has struck out eight times in 15 spring training plate appearances overall, so he's certainly been more famine than feast at the plate thus far. However, Suarez managed to deliver 31 homers for the second straight season during his 2022 Mariners debut campaign despite posting a career-high 31.2 percent strikeout rate, so the poor contact won't necessarily impede his power numbers if it remains similarly elevated.

Tommy La Stella - Set for DH duty Thursday La Stella (shoulder) will serve as the Mariners' designated hitter during Thursday's exhibition versus Team Canada, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.

Impact La Stella has been battling right shoulder irritation since early on in camp and still isn't doing any throwing in on-field drills. The Mariners still seem hopeful that La Stella will be ready for Opening Day, but he'll need to show he can play some defense first. "Everything's tracking for him to be fine," manager Scott Servais said. "We certainly want to get him in the game. We're not looking for him to play defensively every day. But he certainly needs to be an option when we open the season."

Dylan Moore - Cleared for running drills Moore (core) was recently cleared to start running drills, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.

Impact Moore has been brought along slowly this spring following offseason core muscle surgery. The next step after running drills will be live batting practice sessions and then some B games. If that goes well, he'll be cleared for Cactus League action, hopefully as soon as early next week. Moore still has time to get ready for Opening Day if he can avoid setbacks.

Impact Mariners manager Scott Servais said that the team is "slow-playing" Munoz following offseason foot surgery, but the flame-throwing reliever is "looking good" and "feels great." Munoz will be in the mix for saves again this season alongside Paul Sewald. Impact The valued utility asset was making his first Cactus League appearance since Wednesday as a result of lower-body soreness. Haggerty's ability to play the field Monday seems to corroborate a return to normal for the 28-year-old, who also had offseason surgery to repair a Grade 2 adductor strain.

Impact It's a significant step for Munoz in his ongoing recovery from October 2022 foot surgery, and if he experiences no residual setbacks, it would leave him poised to next test himself in a Cactus League game. The 24-year-old was a critical bullpen asset for manager Scott Servais last season while amassing four saves and 22 holds, even as he played through discomfort for a good portion of the campaign. Assuming a return to full health, Munoz should have ample opportunities in a setup role behind presumed top closer Paul Sewald, but the former's triple-digit fastball should earn him his fair share of save chances as well.

Impact Gilbert allowed three earned runs on three hits and two walks over 1.2 innings versus the Padres, even though manager Scott Servais feels the 25-year-old is the furthest along of the Mariners hurlers experimenting with some form of a splitter at the moment. The right-hander took a major step forward with a 13-6 record, 3.20 ERA and 1.18 WHIP across 32 starts in 2022, but he also was unsurprisingly fatigued by the time Seattle's postseason concluded after throwing 185.2 innings during the regular season and 5.1 frames in his one playoff start. Consequently, Kramer notes Gilbert is being eased into his spring training work, and the plan is to keep a close eye on how much live hitting he faces in Cactus League play. "I think they're on track with probably the best idea for what I should do," Gilbert said. "I've been feeling great and bullpens, locked in."
