Impact Rodriguez has been on the IL since July 23 due to a right high-ankle sprain, which he suffered two days earlier when he collided with the outfield fence. The 23-year-old didn't go out on a minor-league rehab assignment, but he demonstrated enough progress with his running in recent days for the Mariners to feel comfortable with bringing him back ahead of Sunday's series finale. According to Olney, Rodriguez will serve as the Mariners' designated hitter Sunday, and it's unclear when he might be ready to take back an everyday role in center field. Though Rodriguez has endured a disappointing season overall, he began to find his stride at the plate before suffering the injury, producing a 1.281 OPS over his last nine games.

Impact The recent trade acquisition opened the scoring in the first inning with his two-bagger, which plated Victor Robles. Arozarena would subsequently cross the plate himself twice courtesy of timely hits by fellow newcomer Justin Turner, giving the former Rays outfielder his fifth multi-run tally in 13 games with the Mariners. Arozarena has the same number of multi-hit efforts since his July 27 team debut, and he's now boasting a .304 average and .917 OPS across 57 plate appearances in Seattle.

Impact Turner had a significant hand in the Mariners' offensive output for the night, plating Randy Arozarena with his first-inning double before rapping a single to drive his teammate home again with the final run of the contest in the seventh. The multi-RBI effort was already Turner's third since joining Seattle at the trade deadline, and the multi-hit tally snapped him out of a 1-for-16 funk that had encompassed his previous five games.
