Mitch Haniger - Hitless in returnHaniger (back) went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Sunday's 5-1 loss to the Angels.
ImpactHaniger missed four games with lower-back tightness. His return to the lineup was a quiet one, and he's now gone 0-for-17 across his last five games. The slump has dropped him to a .228/.282/.389 slash line through 42 contests this year, and he's added seven home runs, 23 RBI, 19 runs scored and six doubles. He should still see regular playing time in right field and as the designated hitter going forward.

A new lesson for Mariners' rookie Julio Rodríguez to digest: Listen to your body"I would just say it's September ... that's my best answer to that," Rodríguez said. "I've never played such a long time (season) before."

Dylan Moore - Reaches base four timesMoore went 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles, two walks, a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 5-1 loss to the Angels.
ImpactMoore made his first start since returning from an oblique injury -- he was activated from the injured list ahead of Saturday's contest but didn't play. He got aboard in each plate appearance, but only an Adam Frazier RBI single in the third inning cashed him in. Moore missed about three weeks with the oblique issue, but he could be an option to play regularly going forward after Eugenio Suarez (finger) hit the injured list Saturday. Moore will need to improve on his .216/.365/.407 slash line down the stretch to push for more playing time, though he's added 16 steals, six home runs, 19 RBI, 32 runs scored and 10 doubles through 209 plate appearances.

Marco Gonzales - Yields three homers in lossGonzales (10-14) allowed five runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out four in 6.1 innings, taking the loss Sunday versus the Angels.
ImpactGonzales was undone by the long ball -- he gave up two home runs to Luis Rengifo and one to Livan Soto. This was the second time in three starts Gonzales has given up multiple homers, though it's just the seventh time he's done that in 29 starts for the year. The poor start ticked his ERA up to 4.01 with a 1.32 WHIP and 92:47 K:BB through 166 innings this season. The 30-year-old southpaw is lined up for a favorable road start in Kansas City next weekend.

Taylor Ward - Nabs stealWard went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Mariners.
ImpactWard has hit safely in 10 of his last 12 games, going 16-for-42 (.381) in that span with three extra-base hits in that span. The steal was his fourth of the season and first since July 26, as the 28-year-old outfielder hasn't provided much of a speed boost this year. The hot month at the plate has lifted his slash line to .270/.355/.440 with 18 home runs, 53 RBI and 62 runs scored through 498 plate appearances.

Livan Soto - Homers in first startSoto went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Mariners.
ImpactSoto entered Saturday's game off the bench and went 0-for-1 before drawing the start at shortstop Sunday. He was aboard on a single in the third inning for his first big-league hit, then scored on a Luis Rengifo homer. In the seventh, Soto went yard himself to pad the Angels' lead. The 22-year-old isn't a particularly notable prospect, but he slashed .281/.379/.362 across 119 games with Double-A Rocket City this year. He should have a chance to compete with Michael Stefanic and Rengifo for playing time in the middle infield over the last couple of weeks of the season.

Luis Rengifo - Another multi-homer gameRengifo went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Mariners.
ImpactRengifo hadn't posted a multi-homer game all year before Friday, and now he's produced two in his last three contests. He's gone 5-for-12 with four long balls and seven RBI in the first three games of this weekend series versus the Mariners, which concludes Monday. For the year, the versatile 25-year-old has racked up 15 homers, 47 RBI, 41 runs scored, six stolen bases and a .275/.307/.455 slash line through 111 contests. With David Fletcher (hand) and Andrew Velazquez (knee) out, Rengifo should have no trouble maintaining an everyday role the rest of the way.
