Virtually unhittable earlyGraveman, who recorded his first win of the season Saturday against the Twins, has allowed just one hit and has yet to be scored upon over the four innings covering his first three...
ImpactThe starter-turned-reliever has been a force in the later innings out of the bullpen, and Saturday, he qualified for the decision after he fired a quick seven-pitch perfect ninth inning and then saw Mitch Haniger put the Mariners ahead for good with a 10th-inning sacrifice fly. The veteran's velocity has impressively ticked up in recent seasons, and with new closer Rafael Montero already blowing two of his first three save chances, there may eventually be an opportunity for Graveman to see some ninth-inning work.

No spring training carryover yetSeager entered Sunday's action with a .226/.294/.290 line over his 34 plate appearances of the season after hitting .350 across 49 PAs during Cactus League action.
ImpactThe veteran did lace a go-ahead RBI single and stole a base in Saturday's extra-inning win over the Twins, but as his overall numbers indicate, he hasn't been able to find the same groove he was in during the exhibition slate. Seager has hit under .250 for four consecutive seasons, so while the pedestrian early numbers have been generated over a very modest sample, there's past recent evidence to support the notion they may not dramatically improve as the campaign unfolds.

Partly offsetting whiffs with walksTrammell, who hit his first major-league home run Saturday against the Twins, has partly countered his early propensity for strikeouts with a 24.1 percent walk rate in 29 plate app...
ImpactIn addition to his solo homer Saturday, Trammell also drew his seventh walk of the season, which helped push his on-base percentage to a solid .345 entering Sunday's action. The rookie has struck out 14 times over his first 29 plate appearances as well, however, which has been a major factor in his .136 average. Trammell's current 48.3 percent strikeout rate and 36.4 percent contact rate will naturally both normalize to a degree over time, considering he demonstrated a solid eye at plate during his minor-league career by posting strikeout rates of 22.8 percent or lower in six of seven stops.

Nearly ready for sim gamesManager Rocco Baldelli said Sunday that Rooker (neck) should begin receiving at-bats in simulated games at the Twins' alternate site in Saint Paul during the upcoming week, Do-Hyou...
ImpactRooker appears to be tracking toward a minimum-length stay on the 10-day injured list, but he's not expected to have a regular role waiting for him in Minnesota once he's reinstated. With third baseman Josh Donaldson (hamstring) seemingly in line to come off the IL on Monday, Luis Arraez will likely shift to left field to handle an everyday gig. Rooker and Jake Cave had previously been vying for at-bats in left.

Playing in simulated gameDonaldson (hamstring) is scheduled to play third base in a simulated game Sunday at the Twins' alternate site in Saint Paul, Darren Wolfson of Channel 5 Saint Paul reports.
ImpactIf Donaldson is able to complete the simulated game without any setbacks to his right hamstring strain, he'll likely be on track to return from the 10-day injured list ahead of the Twins' home series versus Boston, which begins Monday. Luis Arraez has been the primary replacement at third base for Donaldson, but he'll likely move to left field once the latter is reinstated from the IL.

Quad still acting upWhite (quadriceps) will go through a pregame workout before the Mariners determine if he'll be available off the bench for Sunday's series finale in Minnesota, Shannon Drayer of 71...
ImpactJose Marmolejos is picking up a third straight start at first base in White's stead, but the Mariners remain hopeful that the latter can contribute as a pinch hitter. White's left quad still presented issues for him when he tested it prior to Saturday's game, so he may need to demonstrate some progress Sunday to improve his chances of avoiding a trip to the injured list.
