AJ Pollock - Sitting out FridayPollock is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Astros.
ImpactPollock continues to receive inconsistent playing time against right-handed pitching, and he'll sit out against Cristian Javier and Houston in the series opener. Taylor Trammell is hitting eighth and the designated hitter against the Astros on Friday.

Julio Rodríguez - Back in outfield FridayRodriguez is leading off and playing center field against the Astros on Friday, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports.
ImpactRodriguez has been the designated hitter over the last two games after missing a pair of games with a back issue, but he'll be back patrolling center field for the Mariners on Friday against Cristian Javier and the Astros.

Bryce Miller - Draws another start, as expectedMiller is listed as the Mariners' starting pitcher for Sunday's game against the Astros at T-Mobile Park.
ImpactUnsurprisingly, Miller will draw a second straight turn through the rotation after he delivered a gem in his MLB debut Tuesday, when he struck out 10 while allowing one run and only two baserunners across six innings while taking a no-decision against Oakland. The young right-hander will draw a more formidable opponent this weekend, but the promise he displayed in his debut outing should make Miller for a decent fantasy option. Miller should have a path to a full-time role in the rotation with Robbie Ray (elbow) having been shut down for the season after recently undergoing Tommy John surgery.

Adrián Martínez - More rehab work FridayMartinez (elbow) will throw an extended bullpen session Friday, the Associated Press reports.
ImpactThe right-hander was knocked around for nine earned runs across 6.1 innings over his last two relief appearances before going on the injured list April 24 with right forearm inflammation and a strained right elbow. Martinez was able to throw a bullpen session Tuesday that he apparently didn't suffer any residual effects from, setting up what is likely to be a longer session Friday. If all continues without setbacks, it's possible Martinez embarks on at least a brief rehab assignment sometime next week.

J.P. Crawford - Small-ball success ThursdayCrawford went 0-for-2 with two walks and two runs in a win over the Athletics on Thursday.
ImpactThe veteran shortstop is just 2-for-23 over his last seven games following a 3-for-4 effort that featured a grand slam against the Phillies on April 26, but he still managed to make an impact Thursday. Crawford's multi-run effort was his fourth of the season, and despite a middling .226 average, he's maintaining an elite .374 on-base percentage thanks largely to a 19.0 percent walk rate.
MAY 5, 2023ROTOWIRE
Kolten Wong - Rare success at plate ThursdayWong went 2-for-4 with a go-ahead two-run single in a win over the Athletics on Thursday.
ImpactHighlights at the plate have been relatively rare for the veteran infielder thus far this season, but Thursday's two-run knock in the fourth inning was certainly one. The single snapped a 3-3 tie and would actually close out the scoring on the afternoon for either squad while pushing Wong's average over his last six games to a blistering .429 (9-for-21).
