Brendan McKay - Shut down with sorenessMcKay (shoulder) was shut down from throwing for a few days due to renewed soreness in his shoulder, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ImpactMcKay's recovery from thoracic outlet syndrome surgery in November hasn't been ideal, as he was placed on the 60-day injured list to begin the season and is still dealing with some soreness. The 26-year-old can't be activated from the injured list until at least early June, but it's unclear if he'll be ready to go by that point.

Marco Gonzales - X-rays on tapGonzales will undergo X-rays after leaving Wednesday's start against Tampa Bay with a left wrist contusion, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
ImpactThe preliminary diagnosis of a bruise isn't surprising after the left-hander was struck by a 109-mph line drive on his 11th pitch of the game. Gonzales' availability for his next turn through the rotation, which currently lines up for Monday at Houston, remains up in the air as he continues to be evaluated.

Luis Patiño - To resume playing catchPatino (oblique) will resume playing catch Thursday, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
ImpactPatino sustained an oblique strain in mid-April and was subsequently placed on the 60-day injured list, but he'll now be able to resume throwing following a two-week shutdown. The right-hander isn't eligible to return to the majors until at least mid-June, but a return timetable should come into focus as he progresses through a throwing program.
