Tommy Edman - Back as expected Edman (abdomen) will bat ninth and play right field Saturday against the Dodgers, Lynn Worthy of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Impact Edman left Thursday's series opener following an outfield collision with Lars Nootbaar and didn't start Friday's contest, but he appeared off the bench. Expectations were that he'd be able to return to the lineup Saturday, and that's indeed the case.

Dakota Hudson - Activated from minor-league IL Hudson (neck) was activated from Triple-A Memphis' injured list on Saturday ahead of his scheduled start Sunday.

Impact Hudson's been out for a month with neck discomfort. The right-hander struggled to a 5.40 ERA and 1.99 WHIP over his first four starts with Memphis this season. He won't be in consideration for the Cardinals' big-league rotation until he can get his performance back on track.

Impact For the second game in a row, Goldschmidt's patience at the plate was rewarded. He's now racked up eight walks, two steals and four runs scored despite going 0-for-10 across his last four games. His seven thefts this season match his total from last year, and he's slashing .301/.407/.514 with seven home runs, 23 RBI and 31 runs scored through 45 contests.

Steven Matz - Inefficient in loss Matz (0-5) allowed an unearned run on six hits and two walks while striking out six over 4.2 innings to take the loss Friday versus the Dodgers.

Impact Matz needed 103 pitches (66 strikes) to get 14 outs in an inefficient outing. He's yet to complete six innings in any of his nine starts this season, though this was the second time in his last three games that he's been able to limit the damage to one run. The Cardinals still aren't giving him much run support even when he has a good showing. Matz owns a 5.05 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 43:18 K:BB across 46.1 innings this season. With Matthew Liberatore up from Triple-A Memphis, it appears the Cardinals will work with a six-man rotation for a while. Matz should not be considered safe to remain a starter if or when the team returns to a five-man rotation. He's tentatively projected for a road start in Cincinnati next week.

Impact Yepez got in on the homer party despite not starting the contest -- he entered as a pinch hitter for Tommy Edman (abdomen) in the third inning and promptly hit a solo shot. There hasn't been much playing time for Yepez since he was recalled from Triple-A Memphis on May 5, but the Cardinals' outfield is starting to feel the impact of injuries.
