Tommy Edman - Collects four hits in big win Edman went 4-for-5 with a home run, four total runs and two total RBI against the Brewers in an 18-1 win Monday.
Impact The Cardinals racked up 16 hits in the rout, and Edman was responsible for a quarter of those with his first four-hit performance of the campaign. Two of his hits came in the eighth inning, as he led off the 10-run frame with a solo homer and later notched a two-run single. This was a much-needed big game for the second baseman, as he had gone just 3-for-24 over his previous eight contests.

Nolan Gorman - Knocks in five runs in rout Gorman went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, two total runs, five total RBI and a walk in Monday 18-1 victory versus the Brewers.

Andrew Knizner - Hits grand slam Monday Knizner went 1-for-1 with a grand slam and two total runs in Monday's 18-1 rout of Milwaukee.
Impact Knizner began the game on the bench, but he came in to pinch run for Paul Goldschmidt with St. Louis up by eight runs in the eighth inning. He came around to score when Nolan Gorman homered four pitches later, and Knizner then got a turn at the plate when St. Louis batted around to get back to Goldschmidt's original spot. Knizner delivered a grand slam off position player Mike Brosseau, putting the icing on a huge 10-run frame. It was the second straight game with a homer for Knizner, who went deep just once over his first 56 at-bats of the season.

Nolan Arenado - Homers in fourth straight game Arenado went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer and four total RBI in Monday 18-1 thrashing of the Brewers.
Impact Arenado set the tone early for St. Louis, mashing a three-run homer off Freddy Peralta in the first inning. The long ball extended his streak of games with a home run to four, and he's batting a red-hot .529 (9-for-17) over that stretch with four homers, 11 RBI and five runs. Arenado was batting just .239 through the end of April, but he's raised his average 25 points to .264 with an excellent first half of May.

Jack Flaherty - Enjoys best start of campaign Flaherty (3-4) earned the win over Milwaukee on Monday, pitching seven scoreless innings during which he allowed three hits and two walks while striking out 10 batters.
Impact Flaherty had been struggling mightily entering Monday, allowing 18 runs (17 earned) and walking eight batters over his previous 12 innings. He turned things around by limiting the Brewers to three singles and two walks while posting a season-high 10 punchouts. Flaherty racked up 17 swinging strikes in the outing, and he completed seven frames for the first time this season en route to just his second quality start. While this was a very positive start for the veteran, he still has an unimpressive 5.24 ERA on the season. He'll try to build upon this outing in his next start, which is lined up to come against the Dodgers this weekend.

Dylan Carlson - Undergoing tests Monday Carlson will undergo imaging and have his injured left ankle examined by the doctor Monday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Impact Because the Cardinals were late getting back to St. Louis following a Sunday night game in Boston, Carlson has not had tests on his ankle yet. He's out of the lineup Monday, though, and was walking around the clubhouse "pretty gingerly," per Jones. Carlson is hopeful that his injury remains a day-to-day situation, but more should be known after he's examined.

Impact With Willson Contreras back behind the plate Monday for the first time since May 4, Knizner will retreat to the bench, ending a stretch of nine consecutive starts for the 28-year-old backstop. Impact DeJong's second-inning solo shot put the Cardinals ahead for good. The 29-year-old has started six straight games at shortstop, going 6-for-22 (.273) in that span. He's started to cool off a bit, as that stretch has lowered his slash line to .309/.367/.582 across 60 plate appearances this season. He's hit for solid power with four homers through 16 contests, and he's added seven RBI, nine runs scored, a stolen base and three doubles.
