Impact When Hudson was recalled from Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday, manager Oliver Marmol hinted the right-hander could rejoin the rotation, according to John Denton of MLB.com. The Cardinals ultimately chose to keep a five-man rotation intact, but Hudson was still called upon to provide some length out of the bullpen after starter Jordan Montgomery lasted just four innings in Saturday's outing. With two off days during the upcoming week, Hudson will likely remain in the bullpen, but he could make a spot start at some point in the final few days of the regular season if the Cardinals want to give Jack Flaherty or Adam Wainwright a more extended break in advance of the playoffs.

Adam Wainwright - Lasts only three frames Wainwright (11-11) took the loss during Sunday's 4-1 defeat at the hands of the Dodgers, allowing four runs on six hits and three walks with one strikeout in three innings.
Impact Wainwright didn't have his stuff working Sunday as he faced 19 batters and tossed 77 pitches through three innings, permitting at least two baserunners and one run in each frame. The 41-year-old has slowed notably through five September starts with a 6.38 ERA and just nine strikeouts through 24 innings compared to a 3.51 mark and 6.7 K/9 average for the season. He's tentatively scheduled to take the mound again next vs. Pittsburgh.

Yadier Molina - Rejoins lineup Sunday Molina (soreness) is starting behind the plate and batting eighth Sunday against the Dodgers, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.
Impact Molina hasn't seen the field since Tuesday due to some general soreness, but he'll return to the lineup for Sunday's series finale in Los Angeles. The 40-year-old has a .304/.333/.565 slash line with three home runs, three doubles, 10 RBI and seven runs through 13 games in September.

Nolan Arenado - Reaches milestone marks Arenado went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Saturday's 6-2 loss to the Dodgers.
Impact Arenado's homer was his 30th of the year, and it also accounted for his 100th RBI. He's reached those milestone marks in seven straight full seasons, missing them only in the shortened 2020 campaign. The third baseman has supplemented his usual hearty power numbers with a career-high five stolen bases, 41 doubles (two shy of his best mark), a triple, 71 runs scored and a .295/.359/.542 slash line through 142 contests this year. Arenado has tailed off a bit in September, slashing .221/.294/.364 across his last 21 games.

Jordan Montgomery - Slide continues Montgomery (8-6) took the loss during Saturday's 6-2 defeat at the hands of the Dodgers, allowing six runs on seven hits and one walk with three strikeouts in four innings.
Impact Montgomery surrendered three home runs in the first two innings to fall behind 4-0 before permitting three baserunners during a two-run fourth in submitting his worst start of the season by game score. The 29-year-old was fantastic with a 5-0 record and a 1.45 ERA across his first seven starts with St. Louis but has come back to earth during his last three -- all losses -- with an 8.16 mark in 14.1 innings. He still possesses a quality 3.50 ERA and 1.10 WHIP on the season and will look to get back on track next weekend against Pittsburgh.
