Matthew Liberatore - Will get weekend startCardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Wednesday that Liberatore will start one of the team's three games this weekend in Cleveland, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
ImpactThere was talk of Liberatore being used out of the bullpen Tuesday night against the Reds, but that wasn't required as St. Louis rolled to an 8-5 victory. The 23-year-old left-hander tallied six strikeouts over five scoreless innings in his first major-league start of the season last Wednesday against the Brewers before struggling in a relief appearance Sunday versus the Dodgers. He should be an attractive fantasy option as he returns to the Cardinals' rotation against a light-hitting Guardians team.

Dylan Carlson - Takes batting practiceCarlson (ankle) took batting practice from the right side of the plate Wednesday, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
ImpactThe switch-hitting outfielder will begin taking BP from the left side of the plate within the next few days as he continues his recovery from a left ankle sprain. He seems to be tracking toward a return to the Cardinals before the end of May, or maybe the beginning of June. Tyler O'Neill (back) is a little further behind, having only just recently advanced to light swings off a tee. Lars Nootbaar continues to function as the primary center fielder for St. Louis.

Tyler O'Neill - Takes light swingsO'Neill (back) took light swings off a tee Wednesday, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
ImpactO'Neill has finally resumed some level of baseball-related activity following a shutdown period that lasted nearly three weeks. He still has a lot of hurdles to clear, but the 27-year-old outfielder might be ready to rejoin the Cardinals sometime in early June if all goes well within his ramp-up into more intense workouts. O'Neill landed on the injured list May 5 because of a lower back strain.

Curt Casali - Playing behind Stephenson, MaileCasali remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.
ImpactCasali has now started in just two of the Reds' last 10 games, and he's recorded just one hit in 22 at-bats dating back to April 19. The 34-year-old appears to have slipped to third on the Reds' depth chart at catcher behind Tyler Stephenson and Luke Maile.
