Impact On Fairbanks' first pitch of the season, Austin Hays greeted him with a deep fly to left field for a solo homer. Adley Rutschman then tagged a 3-1 pitch for a double before Fairbanks figured it out and retired the next three batters, two on strikeouts. The 28-year-old was one of the Rays' most trusted relievers the last two seasons as he compiled a 3.25 ERA and 95:35 K:BB in 69.1 innings. He'll likely play a key role in the second half for the Rays as they battle for a spot in the postseason.

Impact After holding Baltimore scoreless through three innings, Kluber struggled in the fourth and gave up two runs on four hits. In the sixth, Rougned Odor tagged Kluber for a two-run homer with two outs to make it a 6-4 game. He came out after throwing 83 pitches, which has been normal for the 36-year-old all season as he's averaging 77 pitches per outing and has not eclipsed six innings in any start. Coming off three injury-riddled seasons, the Rays have been hesitant to overwork the veteran and it has paid off as he's compiled a 3.73 ERA and 82:15 K:BB through 94 innings.

Impact Lowe doubled in his first two plate appearances against Jordan Lyles and singled in his final two trips to the plate. Impact Ramirez's absence from the lineup until at least the early part of August is yet another blow to a banged-up Rays roster that already has Wander Franco (wrist), Kevin Kiermaier (hip), Mike Zunino (shoulder) and Manuel Margot (knee) sidelined with long-term injuries. Before exiting after being hit on the hand by a pitch in his lone plate appearance of Sunday's contest, Ramirez had entered the contest with a .329 batting average for the season, the third-best mark in the majors among all players with at least 200 at-bats. Brett Phillips, Christian Bethancourt and Luke Raley are the potential candidates to take on increased roles while Ramirez is out, though it wouldn't be surprising if the Rays looked to the trade market to add a more experienced piece to replace him and some of the other injured hitters on the roster.

Impact Knight allowed three runs on four hits while striking out two over 2.1 frames in his only outing after being called up July 2. He will now either be claimed by another team or report to Triple-A Durham. Fairbanks produced a 3.59 ERA and 1.43 WHIP with 56 strikeouts over 42.2 innings in 47 appearances last season.

Impact Arozarena gave Tampa Bay an early 3-1 lead with his solo shot to left field in the third inning. The long ball was his fourth in July and 11th overall this season. Arozarena also swiped a bag in the eighth inning, but he was subsequently thrown out trying to steal third. He's tied for sixth in the majors with 19 thefts on the season.

Impact Yarbrough was called up to prior to Saturday's start after spending most of June and the first half of July in the minors. The left-hander looked good against the Orioles, throwing 43 of 65 pitches for strikes and departing in the sixth inning in line for the victory. Though Tampa Bay's bullpen couldn't hold the lead, it was nonetheless a promising start for Yarbrough after he surrendered 10 runs over seven innings across two big-league appearances in June. Yarbrough could hold onto a rotation spot with Shane Baz (elbow) out until at least September, though Jeffrey Springs' (leg) imminent return could also push Yarbrough back to the minors or into the bullpen.

Impact The sinker from Jorge Lopez that hit Diaz was clocked at 98.2 mph, but apparently it caught him mostly on the meat of the left forearm. Shane Baz - Shifts to 60-day injured list Baz (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Saturday, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
Impact Baz hit the injured list Thursday with a right elbow sprain. He'll be shut down for a month after receiving a platelet-rich plasma injection, so he likely wouldn't have had a chance to return within 60 days even without this transaction. He'll now be officially unable to make it back before September 9, and it's not yet clear if he'll be ready to return on that date or at any point over the last month of the regular season.
