Jacob deGrom - Throws light bullpen DeGrom (elbow) threw a "light" bullpen Tuesday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact DeGrom is still a few weeks away from a return from the elbow inflammation that placed him on the 15-day injured list at the end of April. The right-hander will likely advanced to more traditional bullpens in the coming days, and then could begin a rehab assignment if he continues to make positive progress. At this point, it looks likely that deGrom is back in the Texas rotation right around the start of June.

Kumar Rocker - Will undergo Tommy John surgery Rocker will have Tommy John surgery later this week, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact Rocker was the third selection by the Rangers in the 2022 draft, and in his six starts with High-A Hickory in 2023 he registered a 3.86 ERA with a 42:7 K:BB over 28 innings. The right-hander was also a first-round pick in 2021 by the Mets, but due to medical concerns he ended up not signing with the club. Rocker will miss the rest of the 2023 season while recovering from the surgery, and he'll all but assuredly miss a few moths to begin the 2024 campaign as well.

Impact Bradford made his MLB debut against Atlanta on Monday and the left-hander allowed six runs over five innings while picking up the loss. He could be back up at some point this summer, but it was known from the start this was just going to be a spot start for the 25-year-old. Scott Barlow was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding transaction.

Impact Barlow has been solid in 11 minor-league appearances this year, posting a 2.63 ERA and 1.29 WHIP with 15 strikeouts through 13.2 innings. Cody Bradford was optioned to Round Rock in a corresponding move.

Impact Bradford has posted an impressive 0.91 ERA through 39.2 innings at the Triple-A level this season, but he found the going much tougher in his first major-league start. The southpaw gave up plenty of hard contact, serving up a pair of homers and five total extra-base hits. Bradford drew a tough assignment for his MLB debut, so this outing shouldn't be seen as a baseline for his potential to succeed in the big leagues. Still, he may be sent back down to the minors since the Rangers currently have five healthy starters ahead of him.
