Impact Miller entered Tuesday's game with just two plate appearances since his previous start April 26. He's part of a jumbled rotation, involving Ezequiel Duran, Robbie Grossman, Travis Jankowski (hamstring, IL) and Josh Smith, looking for at-bats at DH and left field. The crunch will get worse for Miller once shortstop Corey Seager (hamstring) returns -- he starts a rehab assignment this week and could be re-evaluated early next week. Duran and Smith have been filling in at shortstop but will be part of the left field/DH mix when the Rangers' primary shortstop returns.

Impact Heaney put in a solid effort, but the Rangers couldn't do anything with their seven hits in the contest. The southpaw's trouble with the long ball continued Tuesday when he gave up a seventh-inning blast to Tom Murphy, the sixth home run he's allowed in his last three starts. Heaney has a 5.25 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 38:16 K:BB through 36 innings over seven starts this season. He's projected for a favorable weekend start in Oakland.

Jacob deGrom - Could miss another three weeks Rangers manager Bruce Bochy told reporters that deGrom (elbow) could be another two-to-three weeks away from his return, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Impact Bochy noted that deGrom has been going very easy with testing out his throwing while only playing light catch at this stage in his program. The right-hander has no timetable for when he'll be able to return to the mound for bullpen sessions, and that step will have to take place before a more serious ETA for deGrom's return to the Texas pitching staff. At this point, it seems very unlikely that the 34-year-old will back back in the month of May, with the start of June seeming to be a more realistic timeline at this conjecture.

Impact The transaction is retroactive to May 8, so Jankowski will be eligible to return as soon as May 19. The strain -- which he suffered during Sunday's game against the Angels -- is considered mild. Robbie Grossman and Bubba Thompson should be in line to handle most of the starts in left field.

Understandably, the Rangers want to proceed very cautiously with the prized right-hander as he works his way back from right elbow inflammation. Dane Dunning got the first start in deGrom's place and could take multiple more turns.
