Mitch Garver - Target date still May 23 The target date for Garver (knee) to return off the 10-day injured list remains May 23, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Impact Garver was able to take batting practice Friday and continues to make positive progress from the knee sprain that has kept him on the injured list since the middle of April. Because of how much time the veteran 31-year-old has missed, Garver will likely need a rehab assignment of at least a handful of games, and he'll likely begin that assignment at some point in the next week.

Corey Seager - Beginning rehab stint Thursday Seager (hamstring) is expected to begin a rehab assignment Thursday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Impact Seager has been on the 10-day injured list since April 12 due to a left hamstring strain, but he continues to make progress in his recovery. Considering he's missed almost a month of action, he'll likely need a handful of contests to get back up to speed before the Rangers activate him.

James Marvel - Lands with Texas Marvel signed a minor-league contract with the Rangers on Sunday and was assigned to Triple-A Round Rock.

Impact Marvel, whose lone MLB action came with Pittsburgh in 2019, was most recently with the High Point Rockers of the independent Atlantic League of Professional Baseball before the Rangers elected to bring him into their organization. The 29-year-old right-hander immediately settled into the Round Rock rotation, as he started Sunday's game against Reno and struck out one over three innings while allowing four runs (two earned) on three hits and two walks.

Jack Leiter - Posts first win Leiter allowed three hits, two walks and hit a batter while striking out seven over six scoreless innings to pick up his first win in 2023 for Double-A Frisco on Friday.

Impact This was Leiter's best start of the season and possibly his professional career. The first-round draft pick (second overall) in 2021 has battled command issues, walking north of five batters per nine innings over a season-plus in the minors. Texas general manager Chris Young told Kennedi Landry of MLB.com that the right-hander got ahead in counts and was able to land his breaking ball. After walking 14 over his first 16 innings this season, Leiter allowed just three free passes over his last 10 frames.

José Leclerc - Will work in low-leverage spots Leclerc allowed one run on two hits while striking out one over one inning in Sunday's 16-8 win over the Angels.

Impact Leclerc worked the final inning and ceded a solo home run to Hunter Renfroe. Josh H. Smith - Strong off bench Sunday Smith went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk, a stolen base and two total runs scored in Sunday's 16-8 win over the Angels.

Impact Travis Jankowski (hamstring) left the game in the second inning, and Smith filled in admirably. The homer was Smith's second of the season, and it put the Rangers ahead 7-3. This was the utility man's first game action in May after he played semi-regularly in April. He's slashing .154/.353/.269 with three RBI, 11 runs scored and one steal through 69 plate appearances. If Jankowski ends up on the injured list, Smith could be a strong-side platoon option in left field.

Ezequiel Duran - Clubs fourth homer Duran went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run, an additional run scored and three strikeouts in Sunday's 16-8 win over the Angels.

Impact Duran got the Rangers on the board with his blast in the second inning. This was his fifth multi-hit effort in his last nine games, a span in which he has three homers, 10 RBI and a 0:7 BB:K. The infielder raised his slash line to .318/.348/.506 with four homers, 16 RBI, 12 runs scored and two stolen bases through 26 contests this season. He hasn't had a major issue with strikeouts, doing so at a 24.7 percent rate, but he's also drawn just one walk this season.

Martín Pérez - Ineffective Sunday Perez did not factor in the decision in Sunday's win over the Angels. He allowed seven runs on eight hits and three walks with two strikeouts in 3.2 innings.

Impact Both Perez and Jose Suarez struggled in a high-scoring contest that was at 11-7 through four innings. Perez had allowed a total of seven runs (six earned) over his previous four starts combined. The 32-year-old southpaw saw his ERA rise to 3.86 with a 1.55 WHIP and 28:12 K:BB across 37.1 innings through seven starts this season. He'll hope this is just a blip on the radar. Perez is tentatively scheduled for a favorable road start in Oakland during next weekend's four-game series.
