Impact Gray made his second Cactus League start and first since being scratched last Friday due to the tightness in his back. The right-hander was pleased with the outing but noted areas of improvement. "I still feel really slow to the plate and working on that," Gray told Jesus Cano of MLB.com. "But some things were good. I thought the fastball was doing pretty well. I'm mixing up a changeup for now, but the sweeping slider, there's still some stuff to manipulate with it." With three weeks left before Opening Day, Gray should get at least three more starts to work on his form.

Jacob deGrom - Could pitch in Cactus game Monday DeGrom (side) could make his Cactus League debut as soon as Monday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact Working his way back from left side tightness, deGrom sat at 98-99 mph during a 35-pitch live batting practice session Wednesday. As long as he rebounds from that throwing session with no issues, he should be cleared to return to game action. The two-time Cy Young winner remains on track for the start of the season, although it's probably not reasonable to expect a normal workload right out of the gate.

Evan Carter - Will begin season in minors Rangers manager Bruce Bochy confirmed Wednesday that Carter will begin the season in the minors, Levi Weaver of The Athleticreports.
Impact Bochy noted that Carter needs time in the minors to get everyday reps, and that it would be "pushing a kid too much" for him to open the season in the majors. The 20-year-old is widely considered one of the best outfield prospects in baseball, and has performed well in the Cactus League with a .600 on-base percentage and a pair of steals over 16 plate appearances in Arizona. Carter may start the season in the minors, but a strong showing at the higher levels this spring could see him helping the Rangers -- and fantasy managers -- at some point this summer.

The outfielder's left oblique strain is considered relatively minor, so the hope is that his absence isn't an extended one. Though all updates offered by Bochy and deGrom have suggested that the side injury that first cropped up in late February isn't a concern, it's understandable if fantasy managers are skeptical after the two-time Cy Young Award winner's injury-plagued 2021 and 2022 campaigns. Those who haven't drafted yet will want to keep a close eye on reports regarding deGrom after Wednesday's live session. If he sticks to a normal schedule of four days off before facing hitters again, deGrom could make his spring debut as soon as next Monday versus the Diamondbacks.
