ImpactMartinez's second-inning homer, his first of the year, snapped an 0-for-10 skid across his last six contests. The 27-year-old continues to operate as a reserve outfielder for the Rangers. He's slashing .281/.306/.406 with four RBI, seven runs scored and no stolen bases through 36 plate appearances this season. Martinez's best path to playing time remains in left field, where he can compete with Robbie Grossman and Travis Jankowski, though he was covering for a resting Adolis Garcia in right field Sunday.

Jonah Heim - Pops grand slam in lossHeim went 1-for-6 with a grand slam in Sunday's 7-6 extra-innings loss to the Twins.
ImpactThe fourth-inning slam was Heim's first extra-base hit in 11 games since he returned from a wrist injury. In that span, he's gone an awful 3-for-30 (.100) with a 2:8 BB:K, a dry spell that saw him on the bench Friday and Saturday. Heim has been one of the better offensive catchers in baseball this season with a .265/.322/.455 slash line, 15 homers, 74 RBI, 51 runs scored and a pair of stolen bases over 101 contests. Mitch Garver hasn't been bad either, and he could push for time behind the dish if Heim doesn't get back on track soon.

Jordan Montgomery - Decent in no-decisionMontgomery allowed three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out four over 5.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Twins on Sunday.
ImpactThis was the first time in eight starts since the All-Star break that Montgomery has failed to complete six innings. He left Sunday's contest with one out and the bases loaded in the sixth inning, and Chris Stratton promptly gave up a grand slam to begin his relief appearance. Despite the mediocre outing, Montgomery still has a 2.30 ERA over five starts (31.1 innings) for the Rangers. Overall, he's posted a 3.19 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 138:40 K:BB through 152.1 innings between Texas and St. Louis this year. He's lined up for a rematch at home versus the Twins next weekend.
